Exactly, it doesn't make sense to sell 2 cbs, leaving us with 3 (one of course being kompany), especially if we were planning on playing 3 at the back. So I'd guess that the most likely position of the 'mystery signing' will be a CB and possibly bonucci, with juve bringing in benatia.

Yeh it is strange. I mean Mangala and Denayer might not be world class defenders but they could definitely do a job in the cups and as 4th/5th choice defenders, getting rid of both them would leave us very bare.

We all know about kompanys track record, What happens if Stones has a dip in form or confidence as well? Maybe Pep has faith in Tosin. Either way we should hopefully be playing close to 60 games this season. Another CB is a must.

It was no secret we wanted Laporte so I'm not giving up on Bonucci
 
Bonucci Stones Komapany Otamendi would be ridiculous depth at CB.

And Kompany's injuries could mean a small role for a 5th CB - Tosin maybe?

Sagna, Fernando and Fernandinho could obviously all provide cover as well.
 
Now that we have all of our original targets signed (expect Laporte). The Laporte one still bugs me...he would have been the perfect left-sided defender.
The only negative thing about Bonucci is his age. But can't see this deal happening.
 
Maybe if we can get circa £35m for Denayer and Mangala - we'll have a punt for Bonucci. I know we may not get money for Mangala now but I'd hope for a loan with a committment to buy scenario.

For me Laporte would be more value for money than Bonucci. If we are going back in for a centre back that we have already bid for that is. Bonucci is a great player however he is 29, and would be coming into a new league for a lot of money.
