At Manchester City
2017/18 - 14 goals, 19 assists
2018/19 - 14 goals, 18 assists

Last 2 seasons at Bayern Munich
2020/21 - 10 goals, 12 assists
2021/22 - 14 goals, 15 assists

His City stats are marginally better than Phil Foden's and as for Grealish, he has to improve a lot to produce this output.
The Bundesliga being a one team league must also be taken into account...

Loads of back and forth on here about his drop off in form, but we should remember that he had a major injury that effectively put him out for a year.

Knee surgery has obviously moved on leaps and bounds over the past decade and you rarely hear of players having to retire now. But the injury could have robbed him of that final few percentages which can make the difference for a player like him.

At his peak I thought he was an exceptional player for us, but clearly he’s failed to hit that level again.

Have no idea what has been doing performance wise at Bayern (not a lot apparently). Will also accept that he had some appalling performances in a City shirt where nothing would go right for him. Also agree that the other night he was anonymous, like the majority of the rest of the Bayern side in a game that City pretty much controlled.

However, the narrative that seems to be getting peddled on here, that he was largely hit or miss in a City shirt is absolute nonsense. In 17/18 he was absolutely incredible and the 1st player we ever had that looked like a genuine future Ballon D'or candidate. He was a kid that had a lot to learn, unfortunately he chose to do his learning elsewhere and it hasn't worked out, but it doesn't diminish what he did here.

It is unlikely he comes back and only Pep knows whether its even remotely a goer. If Pep did want him, I have a feeling attitudes would change pretty quickly on here.

Absolutely that should be taken into account.

It‘s another question mark for any potential buying club though.

Towards the end he couldn't get a start, same at the moment for Bayern, think because of his attitude. I don't care much for stats,I go to the games

I'd have Leroy back in a heartbeat but he's lost his mojo for the game. He fell out of love with football long before we sold him and he hasn't exactly been ripping up trees in Germany.
We've just sold a moody winger, don't think pep would have another one in.

This is ultimately his issue.

He’s frustrated and needs an arm around his shoulder.

Bayern bought him and tried convert him to wingback ffs. Even now look at him in their system, everything is built for the wing to cut inside and feed Lewandowski who has now departed. It’s horrible football even if effective and wingers look dreadful in it.

If he went to Liverpool we’d be horrified I reckon. Klopp is the type of manager he needs and their system is made for him.

He’ll leave Bayern and I can only hope he ends up somewhere other than those shitbags.

We wouldn't have him back for all those reasons you mentioned. He struggled to get a start last time he was here, can't get a game now and has a whopping wage. Why would we possibly consider bringing him back

Severe amount of posters commenting “sane is shit” who I’ve never seen posting on the forums beforehand. Weird.

Then we have the “looked like a sulk” brigade. Also weird.

Here’s another view. Sane came here and tore the absolute arse out of the league as a kid. Destroyed Liverpool whose fans still speak his name in hushed tones and was our best player in champs league that season.

He won the YPOTY and the Germans were absolutely apoplectic that a golden boy was showing up their league.

This is when the collusion started, I’m absolutely convinced of it.

Loew left him out of the German national squad as a message. That must have really hurt the lad.

Bayern then moved to tap up his family and cause a fuckton of personal issues, resulting in him moving their to appease his family even though his missus didn’t want him to leave England.

Promised the sun, moon and stars and once he got their they treated him like shit.

Here’s what’s likely next. He’ll come back to England and return to form.

Pray for Newcastle to move for him, but I live in fear of Klopp doing it.

To this day, I'm baffled by him being left out of the Germany squad. Makes sense that it was a power play - 'come back to Germany playing for Bayern and we'll get you back in'.

Pricks.
