Leroy Sane - 2018/2019 performances

Brilliant player at his best he seems to have lost a bit of his venom of late though.

He seems to be Peps fall-guy ..... I would never take him off even if he has a poor 1st half, the guy is arguably our biggest threat & he scares the sh*t out of defenders.

For anybody hammering Sane you might ask yourself what Kyle Walker is doing in the build up for Chelseas 1st goal, he ball watches on the half wsy line & Willan runs straight passed him , its amateurish & I think Walker will be embarressed watching it back.

Won't blame Sane if he doesn't want to extend his contract, one of the best young players in the world & Peps whipping boy!!!

And that is why you are simply an armchair manager. Bad old Pep eh for subbing a player not playing well

Mistake by Pep to sub him so early.
Sane has improved his tracking back and defensive play a lot recently.
Yeah he lost Kante for their goal but that can happen with any player, what about Walker's part in the build up to the goal ( see post above), should he have been subbed as well?
In the overall context of Leroy's improvement in the defensive part of his game, poor judgement by Pep IMO.

At this stage of their careers I cant agree with that. For me, Sane has the higher ceiling/potential but Sterling has the attitude and mindset to succeed. Sane falls short in that department and its the only question mark hanging over him.

I'm slightly more inclined to believe that Sterling may have the better career. Both are exceptionally talented - but came to us somewhat raw. Sterling has improved his game more than has Sane thus far IMO.

How can you assess the attitude and mindset of a player ?

It seems many are repeating what Toni Kroos have said about Sane after being left out of the world cup squad which turns out a big mistake for them !

I can see your point, I suppose my take is that Sterling is good, but to me he doesn't have the technique Sane possesses yet he is consistently 8+ out of 10. Sterling has shown a strength of character and a determination to succeed. Sane is still hit and miss although that may be attributed to his younger age. For me, Sane has the potential to be a ballon d'or winner. He is the only person who can stop that happening.

When he first came to our side, Sane had a problem putting in effort on defense (first few games - I clearly remember this).

But Pep straightened him out - Sane almost always plays well defensively now.

Yet for me - just watching Sane and Sterling - and guessing on what change would most benefit each player - keep in mind that I might be wrong...

Sane? Could be most improved by work ethic. Languid at times - in the worst sense of the word.

Sterling? Could be most improved by increased confidence. Given a choice between shooting for a tremendous opportunity to score - or passing - Sterling is very much inclined to pass.
