Les Chapman

OS is just selling tickets for one stand.

Does anyone know if that means you can pay on the gate in the others for this?

It's hardly going to be a sell-out so I imagine you'll be able to pay on the day regardless but whether the other stands are open will depend on the demand, maybe initially they're only opening the one stand?

Bump.

Kick off 2.00 Sunday

A fitting tribute to Chappy
Reporter: SIMON SMEDLEY
Date online: 01 August 2013

TICKETS are selling fast for Les Chapman’s tribute game, at Stockport County’s Edgeley Park Stadium on Sunday.

Sixty four-year-old Chronicle columnist Chapman was born in Royton and over two periods from 1966-1978, made 263 appearances for Athletic and scored 20 goals in seven years .

He went on to make 749 appearances as a player during a 21-year career, with spells at Huddersfield, San Jose, Stockport, Bradford, Rochdale and Preston.

Chapman managed Stockport and Preston before in 1992 taking on his current position - kit manager for Manchester City.

Still one of the most popular characters in the City camp, Chapman’s special game will feature former City stars such as Shaun Goater, Paul Dickov, Patrick Vieira, Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman, Andy Morrison, Jeff and Jim Whitley, Willie Donachie, Asa Hartford, Andy Dibble and Darren Huckerby.

The teams will be managed by Joe Royle and Brian Horton

Chapman said: “It’s really fabulous that such a lot of great players have said they’re going to be coming and playing on Sunday. It’s a humbling experience and should be a lot of fun.”

A limited number of unreserved tickets is available for the game - check <a class="postlink" href="http://www.mcfc.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.mcfc.co.uk</a>

Rascal and Bgblue will be meeting at the Queens in Cheadle at midday on Sunday if any BMrs fancy meeting for a drink before the game. Its around £4 in a taxi to Edgeley Park from the Queens.

Its also a fair bit nicer than some of the pubs on Edgeley.

All welome :)

It speaks volumes about the man when you see all those players from different teams in our recent history wanting to be involved.
We've all worked with a fellow like that.....haven't we?
A genuine, likeable chap, good luck to him.

Don't find Chappy funny when he's gurning and all that, but when serious, he seems a bloody nice bloke.

Especially like the insight this video gives, from about 30:00 onwards.

That was a good video, I can't believe I have never seen it before, has no one ever linked it on this forum before?

I hope for old times' sake, "match worn" shirts are given to ex-players to sell to unsuspecting buyers for a vastly inflated prices.

Me + 2 others going, starting at The Calverts Court (Wetherspoon's) on St. Petersgate from 11 onwards.

It's opens at 8 and does Breakfast for those who like an early start.

Easy to get to, 192 down the A6 then down St. Petersgate.

For those who like Fairs, there is quite a large one (Blackpool Comes to Stockport) on the Booth Street Car Park near the ground. Think it opens at 1:00 and is a pay once wrist band job. Got a 35metre wheel so it's hard to miss.
