Just a couple of points:-
1 - The ITK of which I speak was passing on information related to Lescott's wishes/intentions. Obviously this is just what the player wants to happen and not what Everton want to happen. It is unusual however (although not unprecidented) for a player to be prevented from moving on if he has his heart set on it, especially when multi-million pound offers are in for him.
2 - I can understand the bravado but, seriously, Everton are not "very close to launching a realistic challenge on both the top 4 , and all cup competitions". It's just that simple. Without HUGE sums of cash you can't break the top 4, it's impossible, at least with regularity. You managed it once a few years back, but couldn't build upon that. I'm not having a dig at Everton, or Villa or Spurs for that matter, it's just a simple fact. City are the only club capable of breaking into the top 4 monopoly, and that's only becasue of our extremely wealthy owners.
I'd be very surprised if the only person who knew Lescotts thoughts at the time of these so called ITK's were Lescott himself . It also tickles me that Didsbury Dave quotes Davey Harrison ( our secretary ) as being his source . I'm not saying Dave is a liar , and he may well have had a conversation with Davey , but Dave Harrison , and indeed any Everton player for that matter would not be able to categorically state what is going to happen .
All they could do is pass their opinion on the matter .
The only person who knows exactly what is going to happen is David Moyes , not even Joleon Lescott .
And Matty , I'm not sure how you can say Everton aren't close to launching a realistic challenge on the top 4 and the cups . How close does a team have to be to be any closer m8 ?
Does not a top 4 place already , 2 5th place finishes , and a semi final and final appearance in the cups merit the title ' close ' ?
We've done it , and continue to do it bud .
We do it on the field , and not in the forums . If City go on to be successful , and good luck to them if they do , then by all means then add City to the list of contenders , but at the moment , Hughes is making a soup , and nobody has a clue what it will tase like untill it is served .
The Everton soup tastes wonderful I believe . We know this because it is a proven recipe and we've all tasted it . At the moment , City are still in the kitchen m8 . Your mouth might be watering at the table at the smell , and who can blame you , but the term ' proof is in the pudding ' comes into play here .
