Well , he can want all he likes , but unless there is a buy out clause in his contract , then Everton hold the cards untill 2012 , so I suspect if he did have an interest , he would tread very carefully indeed .
However , I think he will stay unless City make him a record transfer .

You really think Everton can afford to bench him ? Not a fucking chance, if he puts in a request and we make a decent offer, he's ours.

He doesn't need to be benched .
He plays his ass off , or doesn't get picked for the World Cup . Believe me , he would still play his ass off . He may be disappointed , but he is a professional and he knows that once Jags is back , the next window might be more ideal .

A record transfer for what? A defender? Or exceeding the Robinho deal?

Perhaps both . £32.5m I believe was Robinho's fee whilst Ferdinands was £29m ish .
Paying at least £30 would also stick a dent in Uniteds history . :p

£18m will close this deal, I reckon. In fact I think it already has, and the presence of that lanky Brazilian in your friendly games was the sweetener that closed the deal :)

Not sure why what we pay matters so much...

Well, obviously to Moyes, ahem, Kenwright, it will matter greatly. But realistically. 20 million vs 30 million to Hughes/ADUG, isn't really going to matter all that much. So we pay over the odds...we're gonna have to for most players the way the market is right now...

Before the accusations of arrogance come flying from the Dark Blue corner...I'm just stating a fact...

Anyway, without wanting to sound like a dickhead, it has been common knowledge around footballing circles since January, that Lescott wants to come. It was always a matter of when, not if...

agreed. i reckon £18mil is about right in these times of inflated transfer fees.

Not a chance . Jo is not a necessity , and would be on the bench if our strikers were fully fit untill he proved his worth .

dat must be satisfying being able to just ban a wankpot just like dat... nice work, we'll f*ck you up on the forum, f*ck you up in the market and we'll f*ck you up on the pitch you carjacking twatheads, anyway nite Blues....oh is Zin still around, did he get his bike back?

£30M is taking liberties.

Which is why Lescott declaring his hand is important. I think Everton will sell at about 20M
