From what i know, Lescott isn't a local Evertonian, he hasn't been at Everton his entire career; he's not like a Raul at Real Madrid.

I don't know how to ask this without seeming arrogant (which hopefully you'll see i'm not).

"What is it that will keep Lescott at Everton". We all know players hold all the power. If Barca made a serious attempt to get Robinho, or if Santos had a billionaire owner, then perhaps i could see Robinho leaving us for either; one of the biggest clubs in the world or his "hometown" club.

I don't get why Everton fans are saying lescott won't come? ToffeeAndy has said he believes City will overtake Everton in the next few years, we are offering pretty nice wage packets to our new signings, i guess with our acquisitions this summer, we're looking ever more attractive to players.

So, what is it that will make him stay at Everton?

I would hope loyalty. Moyes took him from the championship and turned him in to an international player. You also don't know if Jo might be having a word in his ear telling him not to go as he really didnt like it there.

I still think he'll end up at City tho in all fairness.

deluded.

it must get on your tits really, i now when we were poor and other teams would come in for our better player, it used to piss me off. sorry about the poor bit i couldnt resist

No its a fair comment tbh.

I think we'll be sad to see Lescott go if it happens, but there's other players I see as being more important at the club so its not going to be the end of the world.

Moyes needs as much cash as he can get though form the deal to spend on quality players to strenghten the team if it happens. Selling him for less then £20m and bringing in a replacement and a squad player wouldn't send out a very good message to the fans or the rest of the team.

£22m for Lescott, bring in a young promising replacement for say £8m and use the other £14m to guy either Defour from Leige or Moutinho (ok probs have to add a few mill of our exisiting budget to get him) and I think fans and players alike will be fairly happy

you could give us ten for jo, not million £10 ;-)

Sorry I meant there's nothing to this particular article. the source of it would be very questionable and there's not quote's naming us as being interested. Yes Hull have had enquiries but there's nothing to say Everton are one of them... lazy journalism. I'm sure if Wigan had an eqnuiry about Tight Arse Bramble the papers would instantly say it was Everton even though there wouldn't even be 1% chance of it.

I've stated on here several times I fully expect Lescott to end up at city for somewhere in the region of £22m
A fair and honest comment,i want Lescott but £22 million is too much.I'm going for £18 million as a fair fee.

My guess would be £22m - maybe a bit more than should be - but this is not a 'normal market' - relationships with Everton are in the main very good and I think that City would be happy to pay a premium to get the deal done before the end of July

I was glad that the Jo deal was not delayed by mixing it with this transaction - a sign of good relationships.

I know quite a few Everton fans and they are generally very similar to us - the clubs have been similar in lots of ways - the only difference in recent years is that they have had Moyes to bring stability and relative success - more recently we have won the lottery - could have just as easily have been Everton - hope that does not make us arrogant

Agree with this. In defence of the Everton lads, anyone remember how gutted we all were to lose SWP? It's hard to take when you try to compete on an uneven playing field, and richer clubs come along and nab your best players. Fortunately for the scousers, Moyes is a good manager, and will use the money wisely.

deluded.

Why is that deluded?

We have probs the best team spirit in the league, a real family atmosphere.

If I was swithcing jobs and I was really happy where I was, there was a bit more money elsewhere but I knwo someone who worked there and they really hated it... would I go?

Guess it depends on how much extra I was getting lol.

I dont think its deluded to think a player would listen to a fellow pro and team mate about whats its like to play for City.

Overall no, just excited about the future and who can blame you? :)

There are a few who are tho, but thats probs the same with any club tbh

To be honest I think he would listen more to Barry, Bridge, SWP, Richards, Nedum about their opinions since he's good mates with all of them, than he would Jo who he's known about 6 months.

Andy, you seem a decent enough Evo, but I think the problem Jo had with City was all to do with his work ethic...he would turn up late for training and wasn't prepared to put in the effort MH wanted him to.....he also wasn't first choice when it came to the team sheet.......he was our brazilian Samaras...........so its difficult to say when talking about Joleon as IMO he would fit in well with City ie Bridge, SWP MR etc (England setup) and as he lives in Wilmslow I would think he already knows a few of the City Lads.

well we just have to presume lescott would realise that jo doesn't like city for the reason he was probably are 7th choice striker (im not slaggin jo there he is clearly better than 7th choice, its just clear him and hughes are not compatible)

I tend to agree, £18m is probably Lescott's actual 'worth' if you were to put a monetary value on it, but a players 'worth' and the amount you have to pay to buy him aren't necessarily the same.

We may be able to get Lescott for £20m rather than £22m, but I wouldn't be stunned if £22m was the eventual figure. One things pretty much for sure, we won't be going to the £25m - £30m that some of the more unrealistic Everton fans have been suggesting.
