deluded.

Why is that deluded?

We have probs the best team spirit in the league, a real family atmosphere.

If I was swithcing jobs and I was really happy where I was, there was a bit more money elsewhere but I knwo someone who worked there and they really hated it... would I go?

Guess it depends on how much extra I was getting lol.

I dont think its deluded to think a player would listen to a fellow pro and team mate about whats its like to play for City.
i wouldn't say "a bit more" 5 times his wages are on offer. And Jo didn't not like us, we didn't like him, he was terrible, scored one goal in 20 starts, and looks like a pillock. Don't make it sound like every City player is treated like jo, and i disagree that you have a real familly atmosphere, what was it when we won you at goodison "f*ck off robinho" was being chanted and i seem to remember him being spat on. And i hate to say it but united have a better spirit than you, they play sh*t bags like fletcher who wouldnt get in to watfords side and still win games.

My guess would be £22m - maybe a bit more than should be - but this is not a 'normal market' - relationships with Everton are in the main very good and I think that City would be happy to pay a premium to get the deal done before the end of July

I was glad that the Jo deal was not delayed by mixing it with this transaction - a sign of good relationships.

I know quite a few Everton fans and they are generally very similar to us - the clubs have been similar in lots of ways - the only difference in recent years is that they have had Moyes to bring stability and relative success - more recently we have won the lottery - could have just as easily have been Everton - hope that does not make us arrogant

Agree with this. In defence of the Everton lads, anyone remember how gutted we all were to lose SWP? It's hard to take when you try to compete on an uneven playing field, and richer clubs come along and nab your best players. Fortunately for the scousers, Moyes is a good manager, and will use the money wisely.

I wasn't gutted, I was actually resigned to the fact that SWP had given everything to our club and he needed to take the next step in his career.

i dont wish to sound arrogant at all but everton cant use the lure of european football to keep lescott, they are constantly knocked out of europe at very early stages! and its because there squad isn't big enough and probably lacks creativity at european level (arteta and pienaar aside) plus evertons main aim quite rightly is to finnish as high as poss in the league! now like i said im not wishing to come across arrogant and i'll stop short of definately saying we'll finnish above everton, but its clear we are heading one way and a lot quicker than everton are! i had a chat with some mates last night non of which were everton or city fans, and i asked the question if everton and city gave you an identical contract which club would you sign 4? and they all said city! now lescott isn't world class (yet) so he's not used to chumps league and isn't a priority 4 him right now, everton and other fans have to admit that what were doing is very appealing to players (money aside) even the some top players have come out in interviews and stated its gonna be interesting to watch what city do (so far i've heard rio, lamps, and tranny speak about us)

Its a double edged sword really:

On the plus side:

* You've got the finances to really have a go at the top 4 and go beyond that even
* Your chairman seems to have patience and didn't just sack Hughes and bring in a big name
* You have bought Robinho & Tevez which boosts your profile massively

On the Downside
* Sucess is expected straight away. You wont be given time to settle. City fans seem to really dislike Jo, largely because he was rubbish for you. We gave him a chance and he did well. Sometimes expectation can way heavy on you. You either succeed or fail at City now. Failing could really fuck up your career.
* You dont have the solid platform to build on at the moment. Chelsea were already a top 5 team when they got taken over, you weren't. Again its all down to expectation. Will City fans be happy with 7th place? No so they buy big names who may or may not gel.

You have the potential thats for sure, but the likes of Terry wont leave (imo) until your established and have proven you are going in the right direction. Spurs buy players for crazy money (ok not crazy by your teams standards and deep pockets tbf) but never get anywhere. Their reserve team last year put out a team that cost £45m... proof that spending doesnt always work.

I'm not trying to say you wont get there, or to players like Lescott City aren't an attractive propostion... I'm trying to give a fair and balanced argument of what may go through a players mind when deciding on a move... I hope that comes accross ok.

Hmm i'm not sure 5 times more is likely... probs double his current salary. Also an extra £40k a week to a football is probs the equivalent of a couple of grand to me. thats the point I was making and I think you probs took me a bit to literally.

I'm not saying every player at City gets treated like Jo, but if Lescott did ask him about City you can gaurantee he wouldn't be complimentary. I hadn't thought about the other players people mentioned tho so they have a valid point... I still think my point is valid though as well.

The family atmosphere I was referring to was "in camp" rather then the atmosphere at games. Everyone at our club gets on great and we have a fantastic team spirit. No-one can deny that and if they do then they are majorly wrong.

Fletcher wouldn't get in Watfords team?!!!! Yet he played in the Champions League Semi Final for Man United?!!! Oh my god!!! Funniest thing i've ever ever read without a doubt!

I think i'll take SAF's opinion of a player over yours if that ok lol!

Take whoevers opinion you like, i don't really care, Fletcher, rafeal, neville, berbaflop, park. They are all bad, wouldnt have them at city, i remember robinho absolutley DEMOLISHING rafeal in the derby he didnt know which way was up. You think fleltcher playing for watford is the funniest thing youve read you obviously dont see him play often. What is lescott on now, 30k a week? he wou;d be on 100 with us so although it aint 5x its more than double and equates to millions more over his contract

Well Man U won the league and got the Champions League Final so I'll go with SAF's. Maybe the players you listed also show that its a "team" that wins things, not just a collection of the best players all stuck in a team together.

I also think i've seen enough of Fletcher to have a decent idea of what he's like. Yeah he's not Kaka but he's a very good player none the less.

I think Lescott's on about £40k but I could be wrong. Maybe money will be the deciding factor... would you want a player just coming to you for money though? Do you think any of the players you've signed have come for the money? I woulnd't ever want that for my team.

The derby at COMS or Old Trafford? I thought Rafael had Robinho in his pocket on the former.
