Silly question, actually that's the most pointless question I've heard in a while.

You can ask these ''if'' questions to most football clubs. E.G. Would Ronaldo have joined Madrid if they weren't rich?

Dick head.

Thats also bollocks.

Ronaldo would have considerd joining Madrid if they were skint, without a doubt. He joined them because ALL none british player dream of playing for Real or Barca, its been that way for over 50 years., they are the biggest Club on the planet, always have been, money will not change that.

Right, would Chelsea have won the leauge two years running if Roman didn't take over?

Would they have got Drogba, Essien etc if they weren't rich?

No, but they are rich and so are we, end of.

Fool.

Fair enough....but Chelsea were already a decent team before Abramovic, they had won 2 FA Cups and a European trophy in the 5 years before he got into them....fool

Just a point. If Jagielka would have never got injured, would you have gone for him instead of Lescott ?? or maybe even both ??

Doubt it, I think we're after Lescott because he's the best left footed defender with Premiership experience that we can get. For the spot next to him we've been going for someone with CL experience - Terry and Toure. After that I reckon we would have moved abroad. Not that Jagielka's not an excellent defender, just that they wanted someone who's been there and done it.

Yes but that isn't the point is it?

You asked if Lescott would join City if we weren't rich, I asked a similar question about Chelsea. Chelsea would not have won the leauge without Roman's financial backing.

Don't change the subject.

you my man are saying everything i want to say but 5 mins earlier, agreein with all your posts about this.

You mean like saying publicly, he is not for sale, at any price ??
Or maybe the club chairman saying the same ???

Yeah, maybe they should come out and say that, just like Lescott has come out and publicly admitted his love for City, and his desperation to move out of a club doing really badly, and moving to a proven top 5 team.

Imagine....!

This thread, and much of this board have turned into what EVERYONE detested about Manchester United, arrogant, over confident, cocky bastards.

I really dont want this opinion to remain with me, as I had so much respect for City.

Let me put this to you all.

If you didnt have these rich owners, would Lescott leave Everton for Man City ???
i dont see myself as an arrogant city fan at 29 nearly 30 yrs old, city haven't won anything, been relegated many times had many false dawns in my lifetime, unfortunately no matter what i or many city fans say it will come across as arrogant, believe me when i say i dont mean too, this is un charterd waters for us, were now operating on a different platform than what we were, im sure if everton or villa or spuds had this wealth pumped into them then they (you) would be talking in the same tone as many of us and maybe as city fans we would be lookin in from the outside feeling a tad jealous (see i bet that last comment sounds arrogant), we never asked for ADUG to buy us but thank fuck they did, and if you woke up tomorrow to find out you'd been taken over by a multi billionnaire i can guarantee you'd be shouting it from the roof tops. there are some younger city fans who maybe get a bit carried away with "lets get him no matter what mentality", but thats all it is its just lads and lasses gettin carried away, i know city haven't achieved anything yet but i really think we will soon, and i make no apologies to you or any other fan for that, lescott or no lescott we are going to become a major force (arrogance again) basically we got lucky, the truth is everton like about 16 other premiership clubs are hoping they get lucky too, all the best to everton by the way, i think there a good club with a good manager.

Obviously not!

And while I appreciate your sentiment pabbers, I think the way some city fans are becoming is a result of the state of siege that we feel we're living under. You coming on here and making reasoned discussion is the rarity for fans of other clubs who've been on the board in recent weeks. Also, will Yakubu start next season?

Thats fair enough mate.

I have seen some of the Comments from my fellow Everton fans, and they have been quite embarrassing.

What gets me at the moment, is people seeming to think its a given, that Lescott will walk out on Everton, and if it doesn't happen he will be gutted that his dream move didnt happen.

This is absolute bullshit. I think Lescott will go, and the only factor is the money. You said it yourself, he would not even consider the move if the cash was not their, even if you offerd £10k a week more, I think he would say no.

He will leave, because you will offer him more than double what we will EVER offer him. He is not worth 100k a week.

He is not our best defender.

He was great for us because of Moyes and Jagielka, and the work the team did for him and with him to develop him into the player he is now, I dont think he will be as good with any other team.

I didnt think City fans were this arrogant to be honest.

Anyway, Yakubu....he is in full training, he will be involved in some way from the start of the season.

Just a point. If Jagielka would have never got injured, would you have gone for him instead of Lescott ?? or maybe even both ??

If we get Lescott the move will for him will be about money but that will not be the only thing.
Our owners are determined to make us a top class team and Club... you can see that from the player we have bought in the last 2 windows and from the changes going on behind the scenes at the club.

Lescott could also be seeing this as a big chance to get silverware and a medal or two maybe even strengthen his position in the England squad.

I know that it may not happen this season coming as we have a lot of new players and they need to learn how to play as a team and this will take time and as a result we may have a slow start or a dip in form early on. But even then Top 6 should be obtainable on paper, the next season we'll be pushing for an even better finish and this is more possible as we can hit the ground running.

as arrogant as it sounds it is only a matter of time before we overhaul Everton on the way to the top. Hughes has had the backing if he fail the next guy will have the backing.

But they were £100million in debt prior to roman coming and close to going under.

Two cracking responses lads, nice on. Thats the sort of City fan I had not really seen much of on the past few days on here.

Good posts, that I completely agree with.

If it was Everton that got took over, and It could happen. I know lots of our fans would be just as 'arrogant' as some of yours, suppose thats just what happens.

Sort of like when that chav won the lottery....it made the rest of the country sick with jealous, and anger. But he still didn't really look any classier, or any better for it....just a rich Chav.

That sounds quite bad, but come on, you have to admit, you (and us) are proper working class clubs, always will be.....although one rich one !!!

Some stories on NSNO about Spurs watching the Lescott situation.

They have cash, always have....and would offer a couple of players in the deal apparently.
