We don't need a central midfielder. Why has this suddenly entered into the equation?

Elano was a bit part player, and had already been replaced as was made clear by the player and manager after he left - he left to get games in the World Cup year

It's all about suspensions, injury and loss-of-form. Ireland & Elano were our two truly creative players but the latter just couldn't keep pace with the Premiership and perform on a regualar basis. If Ireland or Barry were out, we'd be back to fitting square pegs in round holes ie: SWP off the wing into the centre, Kompany away from CB and into central midfield or Zab from RB to central midfield.

De Jong doesn't impose himself on the game enough for my liking and gives the ball away too easily or just plays it back or square and in my eyes has still a lot to prove. Having said that he only arrived in January and may just need time to settle in, but why shouldn't we have a specialist defensive midfielder as competition and back up for him too?

isn't that the role of VK, with PabZab as further cover?? Central mid creative role is where we lack cover - centrally it's an injury prone MJ to cover GB and SI isn't it?

Lescott was not present at Evertons training today. Before you ask he wasn't on the treatment table either.

Interesting...

How do you know?

I know this for a fact, it matters not how I know really, I prefer not to say tbh.

Needless to say I'm convinced more than ever the deal has the green light.

Don't think we lack cover there. We can play one of Barry/Ireland if needed when we've got so much invention out wide and up front. Another creative midfielder would end up sat on the bench, and they'd know that so unless they were an up and coming player, I'd doubt they'd settle for that

TBH I think we need a whole new defence, Bridge, Given & Toure apart and a box to box defensive midfielder in the mould of Essien or Yaya Toure and a creative midfielder like Schneider to create competition for Ireland and as back up for each other.

Ideally I'd love to see a defence comprising of Bosingwa, Kolo Toure, Lescott and Bridge. We've got 2 of this 4 already and with Kompany to come back with Zab, Ned and Richards we'd be well sorted.

Also just imagine a midfield of Barry, Essien/Yaya Toure & Ireland/Schneider with what we've already got as attacking options and considering what we'd have left as strength in depth, wouldn't this potential line-up give Ole Bacon-face of the Swamp something to think about.....

dont get ahead off yourself this is a lescott thread and iff we get lescott we could potentially challenge for a top 4 finnish

I know this is a Lescott thread, but more importantly it's a city forum so I don't see this as getting ahead of myself TBH, I see it more like finishing off an already impressive summer spending spree and completing the job with an abundance of quality in reserve.

If we started at Blackburn with a team of: Given, Bosingwa, Kolo Toure, Lescott, Bridge, Yaya Toure, Barry, Ireland, Tevez, Robinho and Adebayor, (There you go, my dream and attainable line-up is now out in the open) with a team like this I could finally start to live my MCFC dream.

Our potential bench could then read: Taylor, Kompany, Zab, SWP, De Jong, RSC. 1st reserves could then be Richards, Johnson, Bellamy, Dunne, Weiss, Vidal etc..... If the prospect of this doesn't excite, then nothing will and I wouldn't say we're a million miles away from making something akin to this a reality.

I think we'll offer £20 Mill and insist that Lescott submits a transfer request pretty much straight away. That seems to be the tactic frequently used by MADrid whenever clubs or players are stalling on potential transger deals (Alonso being the latest example). It seems highly likely to me that Lescott has indeed told the son of a rasher-features (aka Moyes), that he wants to join City. This is the only reason I can think of for Moyes telling use he hopes will all get Bubonic Plague band die.

Any news from the Everton message boards? I'm not going to register for Bluekipper or whatever it's called, but one of the Everton fans said there are City fans on there. Any news to report?
