my best guess is that Moyes has found lining up a replacement to be problematic. I'm sure he is after as much money as possible, but that doesn't explain everything, and neither do any feelings he has on the matter personally. He doesn't want Lescott to go, he doesn't want to give in to City, he doesn't want to run a selling club, he doesn't want the fans on his back. Fair enough David, but you risk repeating what happened to Tottenham with Berbatov. They got a couple of extra million but left themselves no time to get a replacement and unsettled their manager. their entire season was ruined. ultimately it was a major factor in them falling from regular top 6 finishes, to flirting with relegation. be smart. get the deal done, turn it into a positive.

They've just got senderos so if media reports are to be believed why would moyes tell lescott he's not leaving.

I'm sure tottenham's season was ruined by a bit more than berbatoss. Look at how they performed once twitcher took over

moyes was always after another centre-half, jagielka is out for the rest of the year.

i'm sure you're right about tottenham, but they did shoot themselves in the foot by holding out 'til deadline day. there was no chance to use the money to strengthen the team. it unsettled the manager and the negativity spread very quickly. although this would be moyes' decision, he is in danger of cutting his nose off to spite his face. it won't do their preparations any good to have this hanging over them. he'd be better off sorting it out in the next week, getting three or four players in, and drawing a line under the whole affair.

Its just got beyond desperate for Everton.

I said all along Moyes and Kenright would look like pricks if he handed in a transfer request and it looks like that is what he has done.

They are now in an impossible situation. Having sat in front of their own fans and said publically that he would not be sold - regardless of price £30 million + etc what can they do ?

They have have an unsettled, unhappy player that wants to leave and is distracted. Its ruining their pre season build up.

We all know how this works when a player publically agitates for a move, it destroys moral in the dressing room, fans get on their back, the player and teams performance suffer. Look at RSC with Blackburn. Alonso with Liverpool. Barry with Villa. Etc etc etc.

If he has made the request its all in. He might as well get his agent on the phone up SSN, Talksport all the usual outlets and properly force the move through.

From here on out Everton can only loose we will have other players we can target at the end of the day, best case senario they get decent money as soon as possible so they have a chance to strengthen the team. Worst case they go into the season with an unhappy player and the injury hit squad they currently have.

Everton have not played theis well at all they should have kept it civil got it done 2 weeks ago with the most amount of cash and time to get in the new players they need. Moyes is so stubborn and stupid he obviously thinks he can outwait us so we move onto other targets.

This is a high risk strategy for a team that relys on teamwork and togetherness.

√ correcto mundo!

side note* wheres all the toffes gone, what do you think?

It looks like Moyes is showing why he is the Prems top manager .
Nevermind lads .

Understand this though :
Moyes holds all the aces , not Joleon .
Joleon is contracted untill 2012 , and if he refused to play , not only would his World Cup go up in smoke , but he would be hit very hard by the governing bodies I imagine , so throwing a tantrum isn't an option .
Joleons only option is to continue to be a professional , regardless of what happens .

We have several positions that we need to strengthen both in defense and midfield , and if we get a good result , then things might change . Our targets may even be City money dependant , but we won't know that untill they come to light .

I don't get the name calling with Moyes though . Turn the tables , and you would want your manager to fight heart and soul for the club , and that's exactly what Moyes is doing .

He is responsible for our squad , and he and he alone will call the shots .

If Moyes is really stupid enough to doing this he is allowing his own stubborn pride to potentially disrupt Evertons future. If he has really said he wants out he will go and he will not be the same for Everton again, he will however professional he is be unsettled and disruptive,

For City this is probably the best outcome, Everton down to one quality centre back who is unsettled, gossip all season about unhappiness and moves in Jan and no money to spend. Personally if they don't sell lescott I can see this being enough of a disruption to cost them top 10 let alone top 6. This is really in our favour. After all we can go and get a player just as good for 25m and Everton are unsettled.

If we get him we overpay and we get a good player but we hand Everton $25m of which they keep 20m or so, that could buy them Delph, Elm, Senderos and Moutinho and significantly strengthen their overall squad and team. This is clearly what Everton wanted but now pride and stubborness appear to have taken over and Moyes is now allowing his base instincts to over ride common sense and I think this will actually be the situation that brings everton down and actually damages them.

Effin marvellous we cannot lose now either we get the man and Moyes flips as he has staked it all on keeping him now or we leave Everton with an unhappy player, rumours all season and one CB who is not happy and ultimately will leave if he wants to!

I forseee Everton losing Moyes and Lescott in the next 3 weeks!

Moyes is good but he is not the Prems top manager, anyone but a complete one eyed idiot can see that Fergie and then Wenger are an absolute mile ahead of anyone else and anyone who claims Moyes is better than Ferguson has no credibility!

DSOB or whatever, I feel morally obliged to, as many of my fellow Blues are probably passed out, comotosed etc. to once and for all instruct you to go away and f*ck off for good... alrite, nite...

Bit harsh mate. I don't read this thread much has DSOB been upsetting people? I only ask because he seems quite level headed to me, going off his posts that I've read.

Moyes is only doing to us what we did to Chelsea when they wanted SWP. If they can maximise the money then it enables him to buy 2-3 good players strengthen.

and if the ball was on the other foot I would want our club to do everything on the quiet and not pander to the fans unprofessionally by leaking all sorts. Look at the Sweep deal, none of this nonsense, we basically held out, pushed the price up, spoke to the player and then decided the player was happy to go and the money was good and it went through in a few hours. That was because we treated it as a transaction and not a rallying plea to the fans and a statement of pride.

Not being rude but 22m is a fantastic price for lescott and not to sell him for this would be a very silly move. In normal curcumstances I would question our sanity paying this for him as it would be a bad move, only thing is money is not an object so if we pay 22m for a 12m player it really doesn't matter at all.

Pity to see Everton imploding and Moyes showing a complete lack of professionalism, he should look to Martin O Neill to see how a professional manager behaves and Moyes has a long way to go to be as good a manager as O Neill too let alone Fergie, Wenger etc. O Neill has taken smaller and poorer teams to bigger things and has won stuff unlike Moyes. He also uses his head and not his pride.

I will say Moyes is a good manager though (at this stage better than Hughes) and he is a top 6 manager but best in the Prem when someone like Fergie is about is still making me laugh!
