The deals have never and have no reason to be linked.
Jo would have gone on loan either way, likely was placed on loan market list by Hughes early on, much like the other strikers that have gone out this summer. Everton made an enquiry and obviously Jo was happy enough to go there (player decision comes into this to). This was to the davantage of all parties in the transaction and agreed.
Now, just because said team took Jo on loan, does not mean that City have free access to any of their players. It just doesn't work like that.
Despite all the ITK garbage, no deal was ever talked about which included Lescott, Everton have always made their position on Lescott 100% clear, no way. The bids were put in much later and Everton declined them which they have every right to do.
Lescott signed a contract with Everton and it is 100% their right to hold on to him, even if he wants out.
I has now become a case of whether it needs to get nasty, with Lescott simply refusing to play, however in a World Cup Year i'd say this is unlikely.
