Lescott to me is a £12-15M player in all honesty. And the first bid was one that was fair.

However it's never going to be accepted by Everton because they:

1) dont want to sell
2) dont need to sell
3) have Jagielka out for a long time
4) have Yobo off to Africa in January

So you can definitely understand the premium we would need to pay. And it's not even a City tax in this case

You can't put a value on the price of a top class defence...30, 40, 100 million. A poor defence will cost you more than 30 million it may cost you your job and a champion league place.

But....if you look at transfer fees, people do put a value on it and it's more often than not less than goalscorers, when was the last time a defender held the British transfer record?
