Defender linked with Everton move
Hull City, 09:02, July 22, 2009

Everton are lining up a £8m move for Hull City's Michael Turner if they lose star defender Joleon Lescott to Manchester City.

David Moyes does not want to lose Lescott but with the sort of money that City have to splash about he is realistic enough to know he may have no choice so is lining up a replacement in Turner.

Similarly, Hull do not want to lose their dominant centre-half but Phil Brown acknowledges that they may not have a choice and has admitted that if a team were to come up with the right amount of cash then a deal could be done.

Brown said: "I've had three Premier League managers inquire about Michael but I have an evaluation of him based on the current transfer market.

"Michael has a price-tag and if someone decides to come in and reaches that price-tag, then there's a possibility we may lose him."

Clubcall - that would say it all really... if it wasn't for the fact they've stolen the story from that ever reliable new source The Daily Star lol!

Move along people nothing to see here.

you'd be better of changing your name from Toffee Andy to Toffee Apple because everyone seems to be having a bite of you and things are going bad really quickly, Jog on bin dipper

From what i know, Lescott isn't a local Evertonian, he hasn't been at Everton his entire career; he's not like a Raul at Real Madrid.

I don't know how to ask this without seeming arrogant (which hopefully you'll see i'm not).

"What is it that will keep Lescott at Everton". We all know players hold all the power. If Barca made a serious attempt to get Robinho, or if Santos had a billionaire owner, then perhaps i could see Robinho leaving us for either; one of the biggest clubs in the world or his "hometown" club.

I don't get why Everton fans are saying lescott won't come? ToffeeAndy has said he believes City will overtake Everton in the next few years, we are offering pretty nice wage packets to our new signings, i guess with our acquisitions this summer, we're looking ever more attractive to players.

So, what is it that will make him stay at Everton?
No its playing in front of huge crowds in a superb modern stadium

my (sort of) source (a mate that knows someone at city) texted me this morning and said that city were preparing another move for lescott, closer to the fee that they want for him.

he said that they are likley to accept as it is not that far from what they want, he also said that lescott seems keen to come to city, but he will only hand in a transfer request as a last resort incase the move falls through for some reason, like if everton are being to naggy with the fee and he stays, the transfer request could damage his reputation with the fans.

i trust this guy and im going out at 12ish so if youre going to ask stuff then do it now as i wont be back untill tonight. (but in all honesty i dont really know that much more than what ive already said.

ps. i know that this is a bit obvious like my only other itkish post, but the guy my mate gets info of apparently said that he has to be a bit vauge to protect his reputation, he never says a move is 100% done untill it IS 100% done, and this one isnt.

Are you willing to say that in a months time? There is just too much being said for this to be a fabrication of a story,he's coming mate and the fact your on here tells me he's a top player because i wouldn't go on another teams forum and keep my eye on one of our players.

Sorry I meant there's nothing to this particular article. the source of it would be very questionable and there's not quote's naming us as being interested. Yes Hull have had enquiries but there's nothing to say Everton are one of them... lazy journalism. I'm sure if Wigan had an eqnuiry about Tight Arse Bramble the papers would instantly say it was Everton even though there wouldn't even be 1% chance of it.

I've stated on here several times I fully expect Lescott to end up at city for somewhere in the region of £22m

Doubt we'll pay £22 million. Think we'll be getting him for about £18 mill or so.

I would hope loyalty. Moyes took him from the championship and turned him in to an international player. You also don't know if Jo might be having a word in his ear telling him not to go as he really didnt like it there.

I still think he'll end up at City tho in all fairness.

i dont wish to sound arrogant at all but everton cant use the lure of european football to keep lescott, they are constantly knocked out of europe at very early stages! and its because there squad isn't big enough and probably lacks creativity at european level (arteta and pienaar aside) plus evertons main aim quite rightly is to finnish as high as poss in the league! now like i said im not wishing to come across arrogant and i'll stop short of definately saying we'll finnish above everton, but its clear we are heading one way and a lot quicker than everton are! i had a chat with some mates last night non of which were everton or city fans, and i asked the question if everton and city gave you an identical contract which club would you sign 4? and they all said city! now lescott isn't world class (yet) so he's not used to chumps league and isn't a priority 4 him right now, everton and other fans have to admit that what were doing is very appealing to players (money aside) even the some top players have come out in interviews and stated its gonna be interesting to watch what city do (so far i've heard rio, lamps, and tranny speak about us)

A fair and honest comment,i want Lescott but £22 million is too much.I'm going for £18 million as a fair fee.

No its a fair comment tbh.

I think we'll be sad to see Lescott go if it happens, but there's other players I see as being more important at the club so its not going to be the end of the world.

Moyes needs as much cash as he can get though form the deal to spend on quality players to strenghten the team if it happens. Selling him for less then £20m and bringing in a replacement and a squad player wouldn't send out a very good message to the fans or the rest of the team.

£22m for Lescott, bring in a young promising replacement for say £8m and use the other £14m to guy either Defour from Leige or Moutinho (ok probs have to add a few mill of our exisiting budget to get him) and I think fans and players alike will be fairly happy
