cant beleive there are posters defending him, he was shocking, caused a goal, should of give away a penalty, tried his best to assist messi when he hit the post and above all u10's are more comfortable on the ball
He was playing at the very highest level, and when you are caught one on one with Messi few win

As others say, our best partner for Vinny in absence of Nastasic.

Not bad in the air, but is the most awkward looking footballer I've ever watched, and makes me nervous as hell with the ball at his feet. Have a look again at the goal - he was not one on one with Messi, he got his feet in a muddle and totally lost the ball in the most dangerous position possible. How as a professional footballer do you get your feet in a muddle like he did? At this level you shouldn't need to write L and R on each boot.

It's the toss of a coin between playing him or MDM - if I made a good call for either one, it would be out of luck more than judgement. Both are simply not competent to perform consistently good at this level.

No player,as far as i know, deliberately makes a mistake.Lescott was and is a good solid premier league centre half.He is not world class and when faced with world class players he will be found wanting.

In the years since the buy out we have made progress every year and players who were good enough to take us to one level, have had to be replaced with better players capable of taking us to the next level and this will continue to happen.

Another thing to remember is we were not really known in Europe as we had hardly played there,or been succesful since 1970,except in patches. We are just now starting to get a reputation and as we do we will attract a better quality of players more easily.

We now move on to the next level and we all know the players no longer good enough to come with us will leave.Don't forget the part they have played in taking us here.

Demichellis had a better match against Barca before his red card but then again he's our favourite scapegoat at the minute plus he's not English. Lescott was ok considering he isn't playing regularly but was still the reason we went 1-0 down and only had an incredibly incompetent ref to thank that it wasn't earlier that we conceded.

FWIW, I'd still play Lescott over Demichellis every week but the double standards on here is appalling at times.

Never really had a bad word to say about Joleon but he was dreadful tonight. Fucking dreadful.

Clattered Messi after 2 minutes and was really lucky not to have gifted Messi another goal when he hit the post. His inability to pass the ball was the main reason for us not being able to build attacks from the back, Barca would press in a way that made sure Lescott would end up with the ball and he'd have nowhere to go but back to Hart.

I honestly think Garcia would've done a better job back there tonight. Messi would've breezed past him at will like he did Lescott but at least we would've been able to pass the ball out.

if lescott had played regularly this season , he would of re built his superb partnership with vinny from our title season , blame 2 managers who totally discarded a very good defender , ruined his confidence , for no reason other than he was English and didnt look particularly pleasing on the eye , when he had the ball. But hes our best defensive partner for vinny , always has been ,and never gives less than 100% , doesnt rock the boat , If he starts the remaining games , we will win the premiership but i despair at the negative attitude of some posters on here , looking for another scapegoat .

Never forgave Lescott after the QPR foul up leading to their goal, screws up big time at least once a game and tonight no different. We get away with it sometimes but tonight....WTF.
Goodnight, Goodbye, Good Riddance

A bit harsh for me. When we won the League he did score the only goal at Villa. But we all know he's leaving in the Summer I thank him for his contributions to our club and wish him well.

I just hope that MDM isn't the first choice Centre half at the start of 2014-15 season if he is, it will be a long campaign.

His level is at a 5-7th placed team in the PL.

Good PL center half because it's a league that still admires its big CF's and long ball tactics throughout the league outside of the top 4 (albeit it is starting to change with the likes of Swansea, Southampton and Everton), for Lescott that's perfect, but when against a possession team who like to have runners come in off the wings and/ or play with nimble strikers he struggles.

I must say I really don't understand how a player with so little technical ability has made it at the the very top of English football.
