Lescott

Re: Lescott on his way.....

Cant see him going to Utd they have ferdinard, vidic, smalling, jones, evans and wootton who all can play centre back they wont go for him i would love him to stay hes are top player but i can understand why he wants to go, if he leave think we will need to bring bring in two cbs or a cb and rb if Richard moves to cb.

That'll be good then..............

They both did ok, but most of the time they just lumped the ball at Dzeko, or anywhere. Why that is preferrable to Lescott, who has a perfectly good pass completion rate & is a better defender than both of them, I don't understand.

If either of them was brilliant on the ball, I could understand it, but they are just bog average.
Mobility.

Nasty wasn't picked for his passing range. Nasty has much more mobility compared to Lescott and what Mancini wants is someone who can work between a 2-man defence and 3-men backline. To play the 3-men backline, you need mobility. Which is why in the 3-men defence there's always a full back.

Well that's not the reason most give, but if that is the reason then it's failed.

Imo Nastasic doesn't have much more mobility than Lescott anyway, he just looks like it, plus Kolo Toure is much more 'mobile' than Nastasic & is likely to be released on a free.

Lescott is a big unit & looks less mobile & slower than he actually is. In a 1v1 against a quick player, he will stop them more often than Nastasic though as Nastasic is still learning. Neither Lescott nor nastasic are particularly mobile or brilliant on the ball, they are both 'ok' at it.

Lescott is currently better at defending in almost any situation & better than Kompany in a lot of areas.

If we want 'mobile' defenders, we should sign some, but since Arsenal went down that route, they have won fuck all. When they had defenders, they played fluid football & won trophies.

Im shaking my head in disbelief at this stuff. Kolo Toure MORE MOBILE than Nastisic?????!!!! Nastisic NOT BRILLIANT on the ball???
Nastisic will be one of the best defenders in world football in three years time. Whilst his pace isnt electric - neither was bobby moore's nor Franz Beckenbuaer - and they weren't too shabby. For his age and experience he has amazing; calmness, timing, team ethic, maturity, spacial awareness.
Fact is, Lescott makes mistakes and has only team ethic of those attributes.
Finally, every major game Lescott plays in - he makes a fundamental mistake. He simply isnt good at pressure - Nastisic seems naturally suited to pressure.
Surely, no one can seriously be thinking Lescott or Toure should be in the side instead of Nastisic?

Re: Lescott on his way.....

Football is all about opinions but if you think toure or lescott are better than nastasic then ur opinion is wrong

Re: Lescott on his way.....

Given Pellegrini's pursuit of Pepe or Demichelis I would imagine he isnt feeling too good right now and a transfer will surely follow.

I doubt it.

Pellegrini will want 4 central defenders wether they are right footed or left footed in my opinion.

Kompany, Nastasic, Lescott and Demichelis will be our center defenders.

Garcia will be an emergency back up, but I see him more of a utility player if anthing.

Re: Lescott on his way.....

Lescott wont put up with being 4th choice here when he can get first team football at the majority of other Prem clubs.

He's entering the twilight of his career and is in a world cup year,he will want regular football.

And please don't mention Garcia,i'm trying to pretend he doesn't exist......

Re: Lescott on his way.....

Lescott will stay for at least one more year because he has a contract and it doesn't matter if it is a world cup year. He must fight for his place like any other player. Boyata will be 5th in the line to play. IMO Barry will leave this summer so Garcia will be considered to play as a midfielder.

Re: Lescott on his way.....

To be honest the way the England team is organised even if Lescott only plays two games this year he will still go to the World Cup. Woy as good as admitted that players like Rooney will play for England regardless. I do rate Lescott, I didn't at first but in our title winning season I thought he was brilliant (except an error against QPR that was almost so costly!). I think Nastasic's mobility is the main reason Mancini preferred him, against Real he managed to cope with the pressure well and he had an amazing season that had he been English he would have won awards for. It would benefit Lescott and England if he went elsewhere, although I rate Cahill , Jagielka and Dawson ahead of him anyway. It is a tough call because I think we need to keep Nasty happy but also nurture him and someone with the nouse and experience of Pepe would be brilliant. Kompany is an amazing defender but he has a lot to learn as he is still young in terms of a defender. Pepe has that dirty side to his game, I'm not talking about red cards, but the ability to wind the opposition up and use experience to win free kicks etc. That is something that every defender must have. Kompany is a gent and a clean defender, he too would benefit from being a bit harder on the pitch and stamping his authority.

Do you think the club will be content to have a player on 100k/week sat in the reserves for most of the season?

Lescott has already stated his desire to play as much as possible and i think they'll be equally keen to see him elsewhere.
