Lescott

Lescott is a good solid defender.
Ok he is not that comfortable with the ball at his feet but nevertheless a no nonsense defender.
Type of player who needs a run of games to find his form and suffers when he is yoyo'd in and out the team.
Should of played on Saturday but having said that Nasty and Kolo were the only two players who acquitted themselves the rest were totally garbage.
We would be mad to sell him.

They both did ok, but most of the time they just lumped the ball at Dzeko, or anywhere. Why that is preferrable to Lescott, who has a perfectly good pass completion rate & is a better defender than both of them, I don't understand.

If either of them was brilliant on the ball, I could understand it, but they are just bog average.

Mobility.

Nasty wasn't picked for his passing range. Nasty has much more mobility compared to Lescott and what Mancini wants is someone who can work between a 2-man defence and 3-men backline. To play the 3-men backline, you need mobility. Which is why in the 3-men defence there's always a full back.

Well that's not the reason most give, but if that is the reason then it's failed.

Imo Nastasic doesn't have much more mobility than Lescott anyway, he just looks like it, plus Kolo Toure is much more 'mobile' than Nastasic & is likely to be released on a free.

Lescott is a big unit & looks less mobile & slower than he actually is. In a 1v1 against a quick player, he will stop them more often than Nastasic though as Nastasic is still learning. Neither Lescott nor nastasic are particularly mobile or brilliant on the ball, they are both 'ok' at it.

Lescott is currently better at defending in almost any situation & better than Kompany in a lot of areas.

If we want 'mobile' defenders, we should sign some, but since Arsenal went down that route, they have won fuck all. When they had defenders, they played fluid football & won trophies.

Pretty sure I heard Mancini mentioned somewhere he needed a more "mobile" centre back. Whatever that actually means in his head, we would never know.

Kolo is definitely the more mobile out of all our centre backs, considering he was a right winger once. But, obviously, Kolo is prone to errors and mistakes. And to add to that, he cannot really be considered a "tall" centre back.

I don't agree that Lescott is better than Kompany in alot of areas. Lescott is prone to loss of concentration, lacks the technical ability Kompany has, and arguably, not as quick as Kompany. There are just key things that mark the difference in level between Kompany and Lescott.

Not taking anything away from Lescott, I think he is one of the best, if not the best, English defender in the league right now.

And I don't understand the general consensus that we should or must have, a ball-playing centre back. These players are the rarest of the rarest of centre backs and the most obvious ones - David Luiz, Vermaelen, Vertonghen, are pretty shite in their centre back duties.

I would just be more than happy to have a centre back who does his job well. Lescott or Nasty, I don't mind either. One is a great defender, the other could be on his way to greatness.

Re: Lescott on his way.....

Heard a rumour today. Not gonna disclose, but if true our Joleon is about to become immensely unpopular.

However, I highly doubt the credibility of said rumour, but time'll tell.

No quicker way to make yourself immensely unpopular with City fans than that.. If he moved anywhere else I don't think it would piss anyone off. I can't actually think of another team he could move to that would be controversial. Even Chelsea, no-one would give a shit.

Still, his place in the England team would be all but cemented so that would be good for him I suppose ;)

Re: Lescott on his way.....

Who do we hate any more than the rags? Only Arsenal come close... oh, is it Arsenal? I wouldn't mind too much, just make sure they pay 25% on top like we have to.
