Let's Be Honest, It Won't Get Any Better Will It?

I know our thoughts are already on to next season (see the thread), but it won't get any better than this season.

That's not me being downbeat, it's just me being happy and honest. And privileged to have seen it happen.

The PL Title.
3 PL Titles in a row.
The FA Cup.
The Double.
The CL Trophy.
The Treble.

You can never say never, but I honestly don't think that achievement will ever be replicated or bettered in the future.

Thank you Pep, the coaching staff and the players.
I've not read the whole thread but in case it hasn't been mentioned, we've also got to witness the best young striker in the world smash the PL goalscoring record in the same season!

No I agree it won't get better but we'll still have success. As long as we're in the title race in February and still in the Champs league we have to happy with that. We'll be in our groove and we could win a double again. IMO the dippers will be our closest rivals for the title.

In terms of an Era it peaked on Saturday night. We will dominate in years to come and win trophies I'm pretty certain. But you will never see what we are witnessing again. Be grateful we did

i ve heard an indian quote from tv series ''yellowstone'' (great one, also 1883 and 1923, which are spin offs, they are even better''.
anyway, the quote was something like that ''the most dangerous time is the time when you have succeeded too much, and when you are so happy; the demons follow those moments and they will be there. those are the moments that you have to be most carefull''

how much may an old indian be mistaken?

shit, i ve experienced that in my life so many times. and failed immediately....

anyway, things will get better. just be extra careful.
cheers.

also from the great poem of Rudyard Kipling ''IF''

''if you can meet with Triumph and Disaster. And treat those two impostors just the same''

Remember the feeling after Brentford did us at home? We'd the entirety of the World Cup to think about it and then our two first-choice centre-backs come back from the WC long term injured - and we end up with a treble!

It's highly unlikely to get any better than this. I still can't quite process what we did in Istanbul on Saturday night.

Probably not.

But we could also win the league next season and become the only team in English top flight history to win 4 in a row.

And I think just that might be on par with this season in the grand scheme of things.

I am not sure the powers that be will allow it, though.

We’ll see!

I am very much looking forward to not hearing "not won the Champions League" / "got to win the Champions League" / "will they win the Champions League" at every opportunity.

Although obviously the goalposts are being wheeled over to "got to win multiple Champions Leagues" / "got to defend the treble" / "got to win 38 out of 38 league games" as we speak.

I hope we get that tin pot club Villa at home first game next season and 55k blues can remind them how even more irrelevent they are now they cant sing their one and only song to us.

The monkey is now off the club’s back with the Champions league. Sometimes I thought we were cursed with some of the luck we’ve had, you never know when the opportunity to get to the final comes around. I thought it might be a long time after Porto and the semi final in Madrid last year. This team have stormed back and swept everything before them.

Now we have one on the shelf the flood gates could open and we might land a few more. Wouldn’t surprise me if the club won 4 champions leagues before them lot in Stretford win number 4.

The challenge is to maintain the hunger and desire within the collective group of players , coaches , board , tea lady and fans whilst knowing you will not always succeed every time but no one has a right too. When we fail its not about blaming anyone else but getting back up , learning from it and going again but better and stronger. I think it takes a certain mindset to avoid getting comfortable and expecting success to just happen.

The good thing is the constant media sniping and the PL charges are fueling the hunger and desire for the fans , the players and the coaching staff in the same way the banner at OT and lows of the 80s , 90s and early noughties did for older fans who turned out in the thousands in the dark days (Though I would not change a thing)

I will leave it to Pep to set the next target and ensure buy in from the squad and I will enjoy the ride whatever the direction but think he will give players plenty of rest early doors so we push hard at the business end of the season.
Think he will not push the squad hard to win the Charity shield and Super cup and we may see the likes of Rodri , Stones and Haaland rested for them.

I personally don't think it can get better. it might just be how i'm feeling now, but this season is the peak for me, we've achieved the holy grail, and done it in the most spectacular of treble winning seasons.

- Clawing back 8 points on an arsenal side that at one point looked like they were going to run away with the league.
- Dispatching of United at Wembley in the first ever fa cup final derby that they hoped and prayed was going to kill off our treble hopes.
- Toiling away in the Istanbul heat against an excellent Inter side, with pressure at absolute sky high levels, and up pops Rodri to make history and send us all delirious.

Nah, it wont get better than this folks.
