Let's consolidate English and American

It's strange that in Australia they give some things the American name. But others the English way.

Saloon car here is a sedan
Estate car is a station wagon
Motorway is a freeway
Booze is liquor.

But it's bonnet not hood and boot not trunk, and petrol not gas, and wardrobe not closet.

Some are distinctly Aussie though.
Tea break is Smoko
Petrol station is Servo
Dustbinman is Garbo
Afternoon is Arvo

Basically everything ends in O. :)
Dont forget...

Ambo
Abbo
Barby ( ie )
Davo
Stevo
Johno ( even longer than the actual name they're trying to abbreviate....)
Robbo ( Not even Bob ffs )

Honestly.....they took the language with them, the least they could do is respect it. Pfft.

What this thread clearly shows is that us brits have moved on. The Yankee doodles on the other hand are firmly stuck in the 1860's.

Just stop bastardising everything and speak English. We didn’t come over there years ago to educate you for no reason. We have enough Americanisms already over here, next thing is the right to bear arms :-(
Even their right to bear arms is nonsense,it simply means they have a right to wear T-shirts.
