Let's hear it for Edin Dzeko

Just another example of a player bought under the previous regime and proved a success scoring a number of crucial goals.

Replaced by a player for more money and proven to be a complete failure and waste of money.

Pretty much the story of our transfer dealings the past 5 years. You could add together the transfer fees received for Dzeko and Tevez and still not afford Bony. Quite incredible.

You have to take ages and wages of Tevez and Dzeko into consideration. First set of players were on huge wages, selling fee had to be lower than they really were worth. Bony was waste of money though.

You criticise Dzeko - don't know if you ever saw Barney Daniels play (my hero :)) you wouldn't be complaining about Edin. Give me strength ...
I've seen many a shite striker play for City, but I don't see any reason why that should make me miss Dzeko(although I never saw Daniels, given that it was a decade before I was born, maybe he was a special level of shit that would change my mind on everything. Who knows?). We aren't little old City anymore and really shouldn't settle for "less shit than the players we had when we were really shit" as the benchmark for criticism.

Maybe I'm just not as sentimental as some, as I don't think I miss any of our former players.

I don't buy the comments about his first touch being poor. That goal he scored at the Etihad from Silva's chipped through ball which he chested down in full stride and guided it in as it dropped on the half volley was a sublime goal (v Newcastle ?). His scoring record for B-H is also really good.

I really wouldn't call Bell, Lee or Summerbee shit or perhaps that's just me being romantic

Do you think that is the era people are referencing when discussing when we were shit?

If you can't accept Dzeko was a big part of our recent success you would not have been celebrating a certain Aguerro moment. You are deluding yourself if you think Edin did not contribute to our success over the years. The big man scored so many important goals and since he has left has provided nothing but glowing reports about the club. He carried us during the last league title success. If he had been with us this season instead of Bony we would have been still in contention for the title.

When did I ever say anything to the contrary of that? Plenty of players played a big part in us winning things, that doesn't mean they were all brilliant or that I should miss them. I will very much dispute that last point though as I don't see anything to suggest Dzeko would single handedly save our season, given that he didn't last year and doesn't look to have turned his fortunes around this year in Italy either.

He would of scored more goals than Bony that's for sure. Ridiculous decision to get rid of Jovetic and Dzeko and bring in Bony. However, the guy we have never replaced is Tevez.
