Leyton Orient (A) | FA Cup | Post Match Thread

Pathetic really. Had to use Foden and KDB. Very misplaced passing. Half hearted. No intensity. No passion. No second balls. Had to throw on the big guns to save us. Watching the clock run down against Leyton Orient - no disrespect they were very good. What has this team come to ? KDB plastered over this abject performance. BTW Im usually very positive even in defeat. But this?

Really.
That's take a look
City a team of lads that haven't played much with a few new lads from the transfer window.
A team lacking confidence against a team playing their biggest game of their career.
That team than scores a screamer, the pressure is now on.
Tackles being allowed that wouldnt be in the pl. The studs down the back of the calf a clear red card.
Awful ref
The pitch was dogshit even for that level of football.
This is what makes the fa Cup so good the big teams are taken out of their comfort zone.

Nope. None of them were even properly mentioned by the commentators. For one of the pens didn’t CuntKeown actually say a City player fouled another City player?
No, the useless **** Keown was actually saying an Orient player fouled another Orient player and that Marmoush fell over them!

The real story is is how can there be approx 50 to 80 seats empty when fans couldn't get hold of any tickets?! Absolute scandal from the club yet again!!!

Richie Wellens’ post match interview, absolute class about Pep, City and the owners a brilliant club and the owners have been great for east Manchester His dad is the only rag in a family all his uncles are City fans all credit to him

What an excellent post-match. No bullshit, balanced, lucid. Complimentary to his own boys, of course — as he has every right to be. And he may be a rag, but it takes a Manc to make that comment about east Manchester. It is virtually never mentioned in the London-based media. But then, they couldn't give a toss about job creation in the north.
(And I'm a southerner, so I know!)

If you oisten to the fans on Cheesys vlog who were at the game they are of the same mindset. We are papering over the cracks.
Winning the title last season was "papering over the cracks" given the number of times we threw away points from winning positions. But achieving four in a row meant those cracks, which must have been visible to the coaching staff, were often ignored. Utilising a small squad with several injury-prone players also doesn't help, especially at a time when international level players at successful clubs have had bugger all rest since football resumed after Covid.
The small squad routine means too many fringe players have to be used against lower division opponents in cup games and it's almost guaranteed to result in disjointed performances especially away from home on bumpy pitches. Even more so when relatively simple chances are missed, a pure fluke goes against us, and the ref allows our opponents to foul at will.

Sky Sports News still reporting that the Orient player scored yesterday. My understanding is that if a shot is on target (even if it's a feeble effort heading straight to the 'keeper) and takes a deflection off a defender, the goal is given to the attacking team. But if the original attempt wasn't going to go in without that deflection, then it's an OG. That wasn't going in before hitting Ortega.

The ref was shocking.

Tackles that endanger opponents not given or carded.

2 clear penalties WHICH HE SAW waved away.

He gave the impression that he was always 'behind' the play.

Shocking, but will he be held to account ??
He might be held to account, he might not be held to account, but we the punters are unlikely to find out as the powers that be don't want us to be informed.
The players didn't swarm around the ref as rags, dippers or arses would have done and nobody at the club has made a fuss so the incidents might well be swept under the carpet, again. There may have been an assessor in the stands, and refs watching on telly might have a word, but we won't know one way or the other.
But the much criticised VAR might well have called those penalties so why are so many happy when it isn't used?

I know everyone whinges about Noel getting tickets when he doesn’t have the Tesco Clubcard points everyone cares about so deeply to qualify, but genuinely interested in whether he gets any hassle when he’s on the terraces with the great unwashed. Having done a job working with celebrities back in the day myself I know how Joe Bloggs often can’t control himself around famous people, but seems at City Noel gets left alone, unless anyone else has seen different?

I stopped going to away games many years ago but Noel was going about 20-30 years ago. I remember the away crowd at the old Filbert St ground singing Wonderwall in a 0-0 in an FA Cup tie.

I’ve seen both Noel and Liam at numerous away games over the years and generally they are left alone, other than people saying hello. Noel did get slightly annoyed in Porto at the CL final, when coming through the seats after an interview, with some tourist trying to hug him for a selfie, but that seemed more about social distancing at the time, than him being a diva.

I think many blues make it a point of pride to be singularly unimpressed about anything — treble? meh… four in a row? come back when it's five… — and especially about celebrity. Noel's a blue like any of us, neither more nor less. So's Liam. They're treated as such. Although I think if I were sitting next to him I'd hold him to account for that abysmal third strip.
As for getting complimentary tickets. There are loads of people on any match day who get complimentary tickets who simply want to attend a gala event (especially if it's CL). They couldn't give a toss about City. And as for half-and-half tourists having tickets yesterday at Brisbane Road. Now that seriously pisses me off.

Do you think Gonzalez was fouled in the build-up to their goal? Dias played a difficult ball into him, and the pitch wasn't the best. He struggled to control it and was off-balance. An Orient player came in from the side, and as he was falling the ball broke to the 'goal-scorer'. As the Orient player came in from the side he came in with arms raised on his shoulder but it looked like Gonzalez was already going down, and so no foul was given.

Gonzalez lost possession in a dangerous area but I think that is part of the learning process. The Orient player fell on his abdomen / side and has probably caused dome bruising, hopefully his rib-cage is OK.

Yes, it was during COVID and teams had to socially distance beforehand. No crowd but I remember buying a ticket to help out Cheltenham who were missing out on income from a prestigious tie. Didn’t we actually sell out the away end despite not being able to go?
Non attendance tickets to provide much needed revenue for a decent pyramid club.

City are highly respected and admired by our lower league opponents...Newport,Burton,Cheltenham,Bristol,Orient.

The only club whose 'owners' said nowt were the raglights.....classy eh !!

My memory may be tricking me, but I don't think we bought tickets, we paid a few quid for a digital programme

He was stood near us and on good form yesterday. Was having a laugh with a lad about something on his phone. Most just leave him alone or just the odd letting on. Strange how Mike Pickering's ticket always seems to be next to him ;-)

I remember him walking passed me on the concourse at Wembley when we played Gillingham, nobody batted an eyelid but me. I was quite fascinated for some reason, prob cos he’s a midget. Goldie was with him which I found equally as fascinating.
