Liam Delap - Ipswich player 2024-25

Have to think we would have been made aware of this potential manager change ahead of the loan, it's too close for it not to have been in the pipeline. As long as he's playing.

Watched the first half before leaving for our game, I felt sorry for Delap and Dywight Gale because the service was none existent. Surprisingly the atmosphere was very flat
Watched almost all of it too and felt the same. He was left to create something out of nothing on his own, which he tried his best too. Shocking quality from the rest of the team, no way he learns anything from this loan so far apart from fighting with center backs.

Seven appearances and no goals or assists but his strike partner Dwight Gayle has not found the net either.

From reading Stoke forums the team creates nothing for the strikers so it must be a real shock for Delap after playing with creative midfielders and wide-men for our EDS. It does seem to be a bad loan at the moment but he just needs to keep plugging away.

Next game is away at Stoke where he will be up against THB.

Loans are always a gamble. If teams were that good then they wouldn't need to loan in kids. Its that balance of finding a club that play decent football but also where there is opportunity to play.

Even though this Stoke team and shit Delap will learn a lot from it if he gets his head right, this is better for him than scoring in the youth leagues or sitting on our bench. Just have to hope his confidence doesn't suffer.
