Liam Delap signs new contract until 2026

He needs to stay at Ipswich and develop. All he needed was consistent game time, which we can’t provide most of our young players. They have to pretty much be ready made instantly, which 99% of youngsters aren’t.

I’m starting to think we’ve made a mistake getting rid of some of these youngsters who have gone on to become top players/ prospects and would have improved our squad

Even with defeats and so many players injured, we're still not seeing McAtee, so Delap would be stupid to return.
He'd also be looking at Bobb's imminent return and Pep clearly rates him higher than the other Academy prospects

Mcatee unfortunately is not good enough and won’t be here next season. Injury crises and the worst run of form and he still can’t get in the side.

Tidy player and exactly the type we need but of higher quality.

Lavia and palmer are the obvious ones. I’d rather we kept them then signed Philips and doku. THB and delap I think will go on to be top players as well

Amazing isn’t it as soon as anyone leaves us they suddenly become world class players. Imagine the plaudits Kev will get when he eventually leaves!

Delap has been at Sjoke & Hull who both changed manager shortly after he joined.

He didn't pull up any trees at either club.

The coach at Lipsticks has worked him hard and improved him but they are favourites for relegation and he may not want to go back to the EFL.

He's a bit of a 'streaky' rough diamond, and a very light version of Erling, but there are very few of his type around.

City should continue to keep all their options open with him......who knows what a new coach will want in two years time ??

Oh completely agree and that's why I mentioned Bobb, who Pep clearly rates above McAtee.

Its the same with Delap who obviously looks a better option when he's just had a good game in the same weekend that City lost 4-0.

Agree, was tge same with the Brighton kid when he scored a couple of goals. Not sure if seen him since. ? Ferguson
