Licence Fee (TV)

Even if it’s just a family member calling in regularly to do stuff like help with shopping and cooking, cleaning the home, it’s cheaper for the government to pay this small amount than send a care worker round.
I looked online. The govt website states disabled, mentally or physically and a few other really bad stuff that don't effect her.
I do a lot of the other stuff, shopping, cooking, (Mrs Mist to stop her simply having micro waved meals) but that fiesta seem to count. I'll read it again.

Edit I don't know what fiesta was meant to say ! Bloody auto correct

We actually got someone to help us during the process. It’s a good thing I think. Family members want to help but are busy with their own lives, and costs soon rack up when you think about the petrol needed for running around. We as a family were all struggling to keep doing our full time jobs due to trying to save our parents the cost of the help they needed, but they now can pay for a gardener or a decorator and taxis to the hospital etc.

The fella who helped us knew straight away my parents (in their 80s) would both qualify and yes they have medical issues but neither are disabled. In fact neither qualify for a blue badge!

Good luck

My mum is a widow.
She is 90.
She is on a state pension and a very small work pension that my dad had.
She would qualify for benefits except she has a little over 10k in savings.
She accepts that and wether it is politically right or wrong is for another thread.

She is using her savings for every day things like heating. Oh and paying the Bbfuckingc £169.50 for a tv licence.
The letter that she got today states she will be 'helping to create shows and services you enjoy'.

How about stating it is to pay nonce newsreaders whilst suspended or Match of the Day wankers who were on 2 million pounds a year.

I don't object, in principle, to a licence fee. I object to how it is used and who they take it from.
Does she even watch TV?

@Citizen of Legoland cheers for that. It is far different from the govt. web site where you have to be disabled to qualify. That indicates that she'd qualify for help for cleaning, cooking etc.

Extra fiver to fund the excessive salaries, shite programming, harbouring of nonces and sex pests and keeping that **** Simon Stone in a job.

Wouldn't pay it if it was a fiver.

I’ve been getting letters off them, one a month, every month, since I moved into this current place about three years ago.

I even think to myself.. Here’s my monthly TV Licence letter, when I hear the letter box go, as it’s pretty much the only mail I get these days, with so much being online and paperless.

They haven’t even bothered finding out my name, which I’m sure they could pretty easily if they were that arsed.

Always just addressed to the ‘The Occupier”

Fuck ‘em.

I’m not even particularly bothered about paying it. But I feel like they’ve got to put a bit of effort in before I do.

Nah, she's on Flixton (Trafford - but I didn't succumb)
The AgeUK people in Urmston seem a friendly helpful group. I had to have my Diabetic eye test there a few weeks ago, they appear to let off some rooms there. The staff were really nice and lots of information around as well. Just poking my nose in, sorry. :-)
