What is wrong with people stating they do not want him because he will cost X amount? Are you accountants contracted to Sheik Mansour?
We have the opportunity to watch the greatest football, arguably, of all time. Imagine telling family/work colleagues about that in 30/50 years time. Its todays equivalence of telling people you saw Pele score one at the Platt Lane end. Its the stuff of dreams.
Dream a little people. The world keeps on turning and in 10/20 years time the financial dominance of the Premiership might be over, just like what happened in Italy post 80s/early 90s or City may falter.
Players like watching Messi might be a pipe dream once again. If it happens it will the stuff dreams are made of and give the fanbase the most incredible memories.

I’m 33, not had a name on my shirt since Rosler (genuinely!) and not even bought a shirt for 4 seasons. But if we sign him I am immediately buying the away shirt with Messi 10 on the back. It’s Messi. I couldn’t not!

I think the reality is we would make money in Messi rather than lose money, but as you say even if we don’t it’d be worth itThen it’s only £200m spread over several years...
Rather spend it on the greatest player of all time than have it as profit.

Tell me have I got this wrong.
City are currently debt free unlike some of our jealous friends in the PL. Now if City go to the bank of sheik for a £500m loan payable at a very low( wink wink but not illegal) interest rate. The £500m goes onto our debt but it's only our interest payments that that will affect our profit and loss a/c and ultimately our ability to stay with the FFP limits.
