I know it’s Barca and everything but if you’re Messi and you’re being told to take a big pay cut to stay there or come to City on a (presumably) higher wage then surely it’s a no brainer.

He’d be coming to a club with genuine stability under his favourite manager working with people he trusts at the top of the club too. Plus he’d get more chance of winning trophies and a genuine pathway to America with NYCFC which is what he’s already stated he wants.

I absolutely agree with you. But be careful on this thread, how many wanted it closed weeks ago, saying his Barca extension was a given...lol.

I really can't see how he can remain there now, the ordinary financial situation, that I suppose is yet to be established. I could understand if they had won Lal Liga, so him wanting to defend on less money, but they are a shambles currently, so I just can't see one justifiable reason for him to stay.

If he wants trophies, a chance of the Champions League again, and as you say a direct pathway to the US, it has to be City.

I’d read that Dembele had an op and is out for 4 months or so, seems like he won’t be that easy to offload just now
Dembele is out until at least Christmas and his contract is up in June, when he will be a free agent.
The embarrassingly cheap fucks at Barca want him to sign a new four-year deal - but, get this, on 50% of his current wage.
Basically half pay until he gets fit and then they can sell him.
He has quite rightly told them to get fucked and will negotiate as a free agent next summer

If Barca don't reduce their wage bill by the start of the season what is the consequence?

They can't register new players. Unless they raise 3 times as much as they have committed to paying them and for them.

As I understand it.
