It just doesn't add up that he's decided to stay. All reports highlighted how strongly he wanted out, surely staying a mere 4 days later damages Messi more than anybody else. How can a man go from 'fiercely determined' to leave to staying in the space of 24 hours?

We are all thinking this wont happen to typical city but we have not had this much fun for years,if he does come it is a bonus, just enjoy being in the conversation
I'm not one of you but "typical City" has changed a lot in the past decade, hasn't it? At the moment I don't see why Messi wouldn't come to play for you. There are funny curses a club carries for a long time (e.g. our curse in the CL and with the CL final in particular) but they're not a definitive verdict. Look at where you are now, not at what you were. You might have a difficult relationship with luck but it hasn't stopped you coming all this way, nor has it interfered at 93:20 of a game with QPR. You are in the position to dream, I'd say you're allowed to do it.

I mean, every fucking legitimate source you can think of has come out over the last few days to confirm this is happening, but one tweet from some **** who won’t have a clue is enough for you to come out with that?
Never change fordy, breath of fresh air that you are..

Mate, Fordyboy is a United supporter who relentlessly takes the piss on here with concern trolling.

He must be flabbergasted that Ric has allowed him to run amock for so long on here.

Fair play to him for pulling it off almost uncontested by most for so long tbh.

Probably is some statement from Barca direct that they refuse to sell him. Not remember a few days ago it was said Barca are going to pull out all the tricks to put it back on Messi so it looks like hes fucking the club over.

This could be the start.

They want/need Messi to come out and say hes leaving, they will then do a deal and will just say "we tried but your so called hero fucked us, all barca fans should hate him etc etc etc"

LOL I am sure we all would, not sure it's a good deal for Barca.

Any problems we simply have to walk away, would be incredible to see him in blue but life goes on.

It would be a very good deal for Barca, if we paid them 50 million quid, then took his wages off their books.

The alternative is a prisoner Messi, signing a pre contract deal with City in the winter window & then moving for free at the end of the season, after costng them 1 million quid a week.

Do they really want to just keep him there as a mascot ?

Would we want that at City, if it was the other way around ?

why are you lying?

that does not translate as what you just said

this is what she says:

'Good morning, and attention that there may be news regarding #Messi and #FCBarcelona ... the panorama may change. The club remains firm that the club that wants to sign #Messi must pay the clause, and the interested clubs will not do so ...'

Who said he's decided to stay? Or is it your wishful thinking?

Barca bosses are desperate to placate the fans. That's the main obstacle. They want Messi to bear the responsibility for his departure.

In that case, much depends on the contractural situation and Messi's resolve to leave. City are not paying astronomical sums to get him and rightly so.

Why is Barca saying anyone must pay the release clause value a turn in events ? Hasn't this always been the case from Barca's perspective ?

Messi & probably his legal team(and City?) disagree and believe the "I'm off for free" clause is still valid.
