I guess if Messi did join City ,the British media would have a dilemma. Do they embrace the GOAT playing in the Premier league even tho its at City ,or do they carry on trying their best to whitewash our existence from the history books and generally slagging us off? i think probably the latter !
Washed up journeyman, Pep needs him to win the champs league etc etc. City paying him 1m a week no doubt as well.

Now that he has finished at the Copa, let's get this done, and just see the piss boil.
Not going to happen mate, family too settled in Barca, we had all this in January . I'm not sure why this thread is still top of the pile tbqh. If we did somehow persuade him to come here I'll be the first to apologise, but this transfer will not happen

By leaving it til the very last minute and not being on Barca’s pay roll he’s saving them money every day. Maybe he is does love Barca after all ;)

This Copa win made it harder for City to even touch this deal. If Argentina had lost Messi might get irritated even with the slow renewal from Barca's side, but winning Copa means he is set for a happy holiday period and he wont care if he is still out of contract for a few weeks.

He certainly does not look so much like wanting to leave as he wanted to leave 12 months ago. "Bartomeu promised me I can leave for a good offer but went back on his word.". Well there is no need for good offers, no Bartomeu around, yet he is very much likeley to renew and would have done already if Barca would have managed their costs just a bit better over last 2 years.

Well he did seem pretty intent on moving here last summer, even though his family are settled in Barca. The only thing that stopped him, was the contract bullsh*t with Bartomeu. I don't know what would have changed from last summer to this, and I really don't see how Barca will register him now, because they are in an absolute joke of a mess.

On the other hand, this now means outside of the World Cup, Messi's won everything in football. At this juncture he's as likely to just want to stay put & see out his career at Barca, as much as he might just want a final challenge before the curtains come down on his glittering career.

I'd be ecstatic if he decided to move on & came to us, but not surprised in the slightest if he decided to stay put. It is what it is. Messi will do what suits him best at this stage in his career. Messi isn't our future. If he came he'd be the cherry on top, not the player we build our team around for the future. In this respect we have other more pressing issues like a world class striker & a proper specialist world class left back.

That’s how I see it. However, if we are still interested and he doesn’t come this window, without the shackles of Barca tying him down, I think we can safely say we were done up like kippers last summer.

He is settled and real settled esp after the Copa win.

And I don't mind him staying at Barca. I just never liked him fluttering his eyes to us as soon as there is a minor inconvenience at Barca. We for obvious reasons( He is the GOAT) then start dreaming of how to bring his ass to Etihad.

A futile exercise imho.
