Barca and Real have had state aid for years and will continue to do so in some form.

The Premier league will come under attack from all the European leagues because it is so rich and dominant.
They had to give the state aid back recently though RM selling their training ground at an inflated price I’m not sure!

On the other hand, this now means outside of the World Cup, Messi's won everything in football. At this juncture he's as likely to just want to stay put & see out his career at Barca, as much as he might just want a final challenge before the curtains come down on his glittering career.

I'd be ecstatic if he decided to move on & came to us, but not surprised in the slightest if he decided to stay put. It is what it is. Messi will do what suits him best at this stage in his career. Messi isn't our future. If he came he'd be the cherry on top, not the player we build our team around for the future. In this respect we have other more pressing issues like a world class striker & a proper specialist world class left back.

Won everything in football ?

I've not seen him with the Carabao Cup in his arms....................yet :)

The Spanish press very confident he stays.

The rest of the World press very confident he will lose a lot of money if he does stay and at the moment can’t sign until Barca get an enormous amount of wages off their books which they are nowhere near.

Such a weird situation.

So far, looking back, the Spanish press have been wrong just about every day for months. I suppose they only have to be right once whereas the rest have to correct every day.

Aren't Barcelona (and the others) still yet to receive their punishment for the ESL?
Yes UEFA opinion is to throw the three clubs out of Europe plus a fine and they must do something having punished the rest. However it’s a tricky one from a legal point of view and UEFA are taking legal advice over what they can and can’t do.

At the moment Barca are doing a cracking job of punishing themselves. Personally I think UEFA are on dodgy ground punishing anyone as we have seen a few times before. Looks like action currently on hold due to the Spanish court ruling see below…

I doubt Messi will lose money. The new terms to any club will start from the 1st. And that includes Barca
In fact although contract terminate at the end of June clubs still pay the July pay which is then part of the sale negotiations This arrangement is to ensure that players still have money to pay the bills

I get your point. But that will depend on how long they are out of contract. Can't see free agents getting back pay if they don't find a club for 6 months. As for players like Messi, paying bills will never be a struggle
