Liverpool (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

It is Bernie’s legacy to rattle them.
I have to hold my hand up and say that IMO it would be best all around if Bernie moved away after this season as his form was poor in the beginning of this season, but the lads made me eat my words as he`s been outstanding in these last few games.
Loved him from the first time I ever saw him play, for Monaco against the Blues in the CL and me and my lad said what a talented lad he really was. Role on a few months later and WOW just couldn`t believe our luck that we prised him away.
One of my all time favourites and he`s also turned in to be a great captain with his displays and work rate.
What was I thinking about getting shut of the lad ?

That’s incorrect as confirmed by every ex ref discussing the incident. The officials got it right per the letter of the law which is what they’re judged against on their marking scheme and to hit their bonuses and get selected for future matches.

Whether they got it right in the spirit of the game is debatable but every serious ‘expert’ have all said the same thing. They’d like to have seen the goal stand but the officials got it right, grudgingly.

They go of the letter of the book though don’t they!? Swept under the carpet it was

I was thinking about that whilst I was in the ground.... and there are multiple places they could easily install huge screens

So why don't they?... Have they got something they want to hide?
My non match going Liverpool mate said most grounds are the same in terms of amplification / technology . As if he knows ..... embarrassing .

In subjective calls, referees will always back the decision and seek ways to interpret it to back it.

At the end of the day, if he had alloeed the goal, nobody not one person would have questioned it. Because within the exact same subjective provision, the advantage obviously materialised. Nobody would be going, but haaland fouled him, because it was all part of one off the ball action. So their hindsight agreement is pretty much meaningless here, and most regulars would then have also agreed with it.

Same here. Love the bloke. Absolute legend, and I'm not one who throws that around lightly

You just konw that if that free kick was awarded to us, there would be an article the next day on BBC sport website with the headline "Is there a problem with Ghost Free Kicks?"
Exactly . I seem to remember another non free kick in the title race where Liverpool scored a crucial goal from it at Newcastle late on. I think it was an Origi header ..... strangely the highlights don't show that " foul" either .

They got round not applying the law at Wembley by saying the Haaland or the ball was going away from goal. It was only the case because of the deliberate handball outside the area. Basically they lied to keep it 11 v 11 for reasons best known to themselves.
It was clearly to "manage the occasion" and avoid a dull 11 versus 10 game. When you realise that VAR is used to "enhance the product" rather than favour particular teams it makes much more sense.

Great result, but why did we lose control in the 2nd half again, because we were pressed and forced to punt the ball , (poorly) turning over and coming straight back at us, after their goal, Slop made the fatal error of dropping back to hold on to the lead, stopping the press and allowing us back in the game. Our best 2nd half in recent games was Newcastle away with Trafford in nets, able to have better distribution not having the ball coming straight back at us, if we win the cup final against Arse it will be for this reason.

Some players would have bottled out of that challenge. Nunes deserves more credit for winning us that penalty.
Yep, I thought Nunes did really well to put Alisson under pressure there, his run forced that error of judgement from the Liverpool keeper.
