Liverpool (A) Post Match Thread.

No amount of VAR would have helped us with certain foul on Stones. Terrible ref decision on that. Anywhere else on the pitch its a foul, dont know why he didnt give it.
I did think stones was a bit naive though, should have cleared the ball and not let the ref have to save him.
Never a foul,Stones got his positiong wrong and got caught out..no complaints..we were shocking defensively..shades of last season..for the first time this season I think the set up was wrong.
We have beat every other team with the 4 1 4 1 but Fernandinho needed help today. We were getting murdered on the counter.
Hopefully pep learns from this.

I make it we've won twice there is the last 50 attempts.

Might as well just rest the players and forfeit the game. It would save energy and be less embarrassing.

Not a happy Hector :-(

Let's not be churlish, they played football and are just as capable as we are at stringing together some high precision passes for a swift counter.
I don't think we had a particularly 'bad' game - they simply put in an incredible effort and pressed up for the full 90 minutes - we simply didn't have the time on the ball that we're used to.
The reason they aren't going to win the league is that they are too inconsistent, and just as likely to put in a lousy performance against a bottom of the table team and drop 3 points. We're much more consistent.

They played us at our own game and it paid off for them.

3 mistakes in 10 minutes cost us,it's how we react against Newcastle that's important need to hammer them
Yep. Exactly what Guardiola has said, let's see what we do. Thankfully it's not Spurs away, or Chelsea at home next game. Newcastle will park the bus, but we've shown we can handle that.

We were not awful today just tired and made errors partly for that reason and because of the pressing by skillful forwards.

We were well in the game pretty much throughout - strange being 4-1 down but true.

It was actually quite an even game and we had more passes and possession AT Liverpool.

The stat that says all is that we had fewer touches in the opposition box than any game all season. Sadly that was on Sterling and Aguero today who just did not have enough.

It will be good to get the unbeaten monkey off our back. The comeback made it a great game for the neutrals watching. Even those in the studio (apart from the abysmally biased Sky commentator who was embarrassing with an ex United player alongside more neutral than he was). Should get called out for that by the media. But won''t.

Gary Neville quite rightly pointed out how the never say die team spirit was there to see and would scare teams playing us more than an off day. We played another 10 minutes and we could even have won that.

Bad day, but not as awful as some suggest. Just one of those days you get in most seasons when things went wrong more often than usual and shots flew in from the opposition that in other games would miss.
