Liverpool (A) Post Match Thread

Exactly, it was a good move for him because he found a manager who valued his specific skillset and he has been part of a successful era at Liverpool. If he had stayed I find it very unlikely he would have suited a Pep side with his preference for more technically gifted midfielders. Sadly peoples view of Liverpool is skewing their view of Milner.

The narrative that he left for playing time (& they specified the midfield slot) doesn’t stack up when you look at the stats. It was a narrative cooked up by LFC, Milner and the media. It was another way to have a pop at City - old school players take a pay cut to leave the club for the glory of the game. It’s that moral high ground the cult on the Kop love to take.

The reality is he wanted a long term wedge, good on him for getting that security, I don’t see him as a greedy bastard, but I don’t like the bullshit. I don’t boo players, but am taking a guess that those who do boo him saw through the story that he moved for his need to call central midfield home.

As per usual you are wrong.

Milner making out he was going to sign a new contract and then not doing so, spouting off about not playing much, when in reality he had played a lot of games, stating he wanted to be a CM as a reason for going, ending up playing fucking RB. Slagging City off when given a chance, shithousery during games v Liverpool.

Not one of those things are to do with Liverpool FC.

Just for the record I think his transfer, like when anyone changes jobs in the real world, is a lot more nuanced than one reason alone. However the stats you are highlighting vindicates the point about game time, not disproves it.

According to the stats you have quoted. In his last two seasons at City he started 30 premiership games and was on the bench for 33 games. In his first two at Liverpool he started 64.

2015/16

He played 28 out of 38 Matches and was out injured for 7 matches. So 3 games he was not picked to start.

2016/17

He started 36 out of 38 games and missed one match through injury. So one game he was not picked to start.

Corruption. Only explanation possible for the referee AND VAR ignoring Milner fouling Foden in the box first half followed by refusing to send Milner off for a second booking in the second half.

When do we think corruption will finally be exposed ?

its only a matter of time before a whistleblower comes forward.
They would have to have balls of steel to blow the lid on corruption in football. Too much money sloshing around for there not to be some very dodgy characters involved.

The mess up with the free kick at the end aside, I thought Ederson was sublime yesterday.

I can't think of a single other goal keeper who can do what he does to that level.

His composure levels are outrageous...........
Eddie's ice-cold composure, confidence & passing are second to none. He is a like a robot / machine with a 70-yard pass.

His actual ability to save a shot, though, is arguably the worst in the Premier League.

That's overly harsh - I don't have him at fault for either of the goals............

A little harsh but I agree he could be a lot better at the old shot stopping that's for sure.

Not even the 2nd one?

Shouldn't really be getting beat from that angle tbh and the first goal was a typical charge out as the ball gets slotted past him, there is an awful lot of goals conceded in this scenario, he needs to do something different, good strikers will know that he charges out and then wait and slot it in low past his feet, making it hard to save, if he stood tall a couple of times it might put a bit of doubt in the strikers' mind.

Of course, it is only made worse as this is the very kind of finishing we are shit at, one on ones with the keeper are atrocious, so if they are like it in practice Eddie probably thinks he is great at one on ones lol
