Aguero looks a different animal to lay season.. If he tempted to go with Bernardo in mid with Fernandiho and Sterling. Then Sane left, Aguero centre and Mahrez right. Silva pace worries me more than losing his attacking skill in this fixture.

I don't usually say this but I'd take a draw now lol.

Seriously tho they're always more up to it than us or so it seems. We need to have strong minds, don't give the ball away & just play our game.

Hoping 1 of Delph or Mendy are fit I don't fancy Salah running at Laporte, I wouldn't start Sterling either.

Ederson

Walker Kompany Laporte Mendy

Stones Fernandinho

B.Silva D.Silva Sane

Aguero

Come on City.

Liverpool looked tired last night, but they always seem to find a bit extra when they play us so not going to read too much into that.

I did wonder whether Guardiola might play three at the back, similar to the league game at The Etihad last season, but Napoli's wide players caused them problems so I think we'll play with wingers in the usual 4-3-3. Originally thought that we should start Mahrez ahead of Sterling, just because he always struggles at Anfield, but have changed my mind. He should start, and will hopefully have a point to prove.

If we can survive the inevitable early onslaught then we've got a decent chance, but would definitely take a point right now.

Totally agree - If we could get a point or even three, what a marker we'll lay down, also considering we haven't really played at our best and that KDB been out the majority of the games.

Sterling has to start. He's been one of our best players this season, is banging them in for fun and is generally in great form. The idea that we don't play one of our best players because he'll get booed is madness, he's a big boy. He's a big boy that also wants circa 200k-per-week so it's about time this was all put to bed

On top of that, Aguero hasn't had a good game there in 8 years, should we drop him? No, if anyone was wondering

I'm convinced if we beat them on Sunday after the Napoli loss their wheels will fall off with dramatic effect. I simply can't see them mounting a serious challenge without Salah getting back to last season's level and two defeats on the bounce will be heart breaking for them. So in short if Salah doesn't turn up on Sunday we've won the league.....or maybe not

Liverpool could get hammered 5-0 the day before we were due to play them and I'd still not be anymore confident of a win there.

Fingers Crossed.

Long way to go yet, no matter the result, but I’m starting to think Chelsea are the better contenders.

Big if, but a win here will be devastating to the league. Teams will be of the mindset that we can't be beat. The league/Sky/media's only hope is that a rampaging Liverpool will beat us, a win here, changes that.
I like Chelsea, but they lack goals, Hazard injury away from struggling.

I think our ability to win 6,7,8,9 on the bounce will win us the league regardless. Especially if we add help for Fernandinho in the winter.

Sunday I'd go.

Ederson
Walker
Laporte
Kompany
Danilo

Stones
Fernandinho
D Silva

Mahrez
Aguero
Bernardo.

Pass them to death, then exploit them wide in the second half with subs.

I’m watching a replay of the Napoli game. Absolute garbage from the scousers. A real lack of movement, almost unitedesque, no urgency in their play.
So annoying, you just know they will be running around like chimps on acid and kicking every thing that moves on Sunday.

After watching Robertson last night I'm convinced that Sterling can get the better of him, especially in his current form. That could be a key area for us.

I also hope that Sane has some fire in his belly after TAA made it difficult for him last season.

My biggest concerns will be central midfield, with their energy and power (Milner, Wijnaldum and Henderson), and the holes in our back line.

We all know that Liverpool will play like it's their cup final and if our most important players don't step up then we'll get the usual result.

Pack out the midfield and go to war for once, get stuck into them and don't get caught out in possession with the majority of the team committed to an attack. Make our wingers press their full backs and force them back. I'm going for 0-4 citeh! Aguero brace, Laporte header and a late sterling counter goal where he silences the kop.

Problem is Liverpool last night didn’t have the referee helping them out come Sunday we will be playing against 14 and a Liverpool team in crack for at least the first 30mins.

We're everyone's cup final in the league. Little scousers' biggest game of the season. Even the police in Merseyside seem to take a day off when we're in town, a proper holiday atmosphere for the locals to throw bricks and bottles. They probably even open Wetherspoons early and shut the job centres for the day.

We get no protection from refs either against the FA's second favourite team.
