Napoli played with three central defenders. Enough said.
Napoli played a 442, they played a CB at RB, but it wasn't a 3 at the back formation.

And if the refs hadn't given them the first game it would have been true.
Yeah, but we all know they'll suddenly play a blinder as soon as it's us. And get all the decisions. And the luck. And someone shit will score the goal of his life out of nowhere. If Liverpool repeat the performance they have just given against Napoli we will tear them to pieces , hoodoo or no hoodoo they need to improve tenfold or we will end their season on Sunday.
Literally every game against Liverpool in a nutshell.Yeah, but we all know they'll suddenly play a blinder as soon as it's us. And get all the decisions. And the luck. And someone shit will score the goal of his life out of nowhere.

It feels like neither us nor them have really gotten out of 3rd gear this season. Despite the good results we haven't clicked in the same way we did last year and arguably they haven't played their most dynamic football either. Interestingly with them not having won any of their last 3 and being at home, all the pressure is on them. A loss would hurt them so much more than it would hurt us psychologically I beleive. If we lose, it's just another loss at Anfield which we practically always do. If they lose, it'll be 4 without a win plus losing at home to their biggest title competitor. If we beat them, the wheels just might start to fall off a little and I feel like if we play well they are there for the taking.
Having said that, I think it may end in a draw. In my opinion we absolutely have to play a double pivot in midfield or 3 CBs. We need more defensive cover to cope with their counter attack than we've deployed in any previous game. So Stones and Fernandinho as double pivots or 3 CBs with the fullbacks playing a bit more advanced but still able to provide cover going back.
I think Mahrez needs to start ahead of Sterling because Sterling doesn't seem to cope with the pressure of playing Liverpool. I favour Danilo at LB or LWB because with Sane playing wide it allows Danilo to tuck inside and play an inverted role, bolstering the midfield and not crowding Sane. Playing a right footer on that side should in theory also provide better protection from Salah cutting inside as he prefers to do.
I didn’t catch the game but reports suggest they gave a real limp display. Was it just an off day or did they look jaded ?If Liverpool repeat the performance they have just given against Napoli we will tear them to pieces , hoodoo or no hoodoo they need to improve tenfold or we will end their season on Sunday.
Both apparently, but more jaded from what I seen. Napoli played a few long balls that tended to catch them out somewhat, and they didn't like being turned around by this, Salah looked gassed as well. Doesn't mean anything for Sunday imo if we don't keep it tight as Napoli did tonight.I didn’t catch the game but reports suggest they gave a real limp display.
