FWIW I think this price is awful and I feel sorry for those who are priced out or can’t afford/justify one of the cheaper season tickets. My adult gold ST is £530 for a L3 corner and to be fair to City I think is great value. But from £57 for a one off game seems to be taking the piss.
But are City really taking the piss or just doing what all the other big clubs do? I didn’t know the answer to that so checked some other clubs for Adult prices only
LIVERPOOL – Adult prices only
(Cat A Games - Rags, City, Chelsea, Spurs, Arse, Everton, Newcastle)
6 price tiers ranging from £46 to £59
---------------------------------------------------
RAGS
(Seems to be same price for all games)
Members (£32 per year) - 19 price tiers ranging from £41-£53
Non members – 19 price tiers ranging from £46-£58
---------------------------------------------------------
SPURS
(Cat A Games - Rags, City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arse, West ham)
10 price tiers ranging from £48-£81
---------------------------------------------
CHELSEA
(Cat A Games - Rags, City, Liverpool, Spurs, Arse)
Members (£25 per year) - 6 price tiers ranging from £56-£64
Non members – 6 price tiers ranging from £61-£69
-------------------------------------------------------------------
ARSENAL
(Cat A Games - Rags, City, Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea and maybe others)
Members (£39 per year) - 16 price tiers ranging from £64-£127
Non members – 13 price tiers ranging from £65.50-£129.50
Conclusion?
So no doubt we are right up there. Apart from Arsenal, you can get in anywhere else for less than £57.
Are these obscene prices impacting attendances? No, according to Sporting Intelligence the average attendance in the top division for 2013/2014 was the highest for 64 years and the seat occupancy rate for 2013/2014 was the highest in Premier League history.
