They could have got there name on the waiting list that has been up and running for quite a while or just paid for the odd match if they can't afford it or can't travel for every match.
Either way, watch 19 matches by an S/T or 1, 2, 3, 4 etc etc for cherry picking their matches.

That's a fair comment I suppose given the drop in capacity. But if those sort of prices are in place once the stadium has been expanded...?

IMO they are pricing out the core supporter that sustained us in the hard times in favour ofnthe new supporter/tourist that spends innthe club shop but doesnt have the same affinity with and loyalty to the club.

I think you can add a majority of blue/ citizen members to that as well I was a season ticket holder from 1976, now I live away and a season ticket doesn't suit me. I can only get to 6 games a year.
However if I can get one for £299 in the expanded stadium I could well get one. Trouble is I will still only be able to make around 6 games / season so it could well be empty except for a few games when I can lend it to friends.

just to add my voice to this thread. I'm a S/T holder, so not affected by this..but £57..to watch a match??!! I love watching the blues, but if I didn't have a S/T there's no way I'd pay that..but I do know that there are a lot of blues who aren't able to go from one year to the next for many reasons so £57 for a once a year trip against a big rival is affordable, so those tickets will be sold. Don't agree with it, but that's the reality

For example, 94,000 lottery tickets are made available and everyone who is interested in a ticket pays £25 and the first 47,000 lucky buggers out of the hat get to go to the game. So, if you like the 1 in 2 odds, you might be able to get a ticket to ANY GAME for only £25!! Brilliant, right? No "tickets from £57" for one of the biggest games of the season that is also the first game of the new CHAMPIONS

However, if less than 94,000 people enter the lottery, for every 1,000 less that enter, the price of the lottery ticket goes up £1 to £26. So, if only 90,000 people enter the lottery, each person has a better than 1 in 2 chance of a ticket, but your ticket costs £29.

That sounds like a fair, socially responsible system that might work for everyone, doesn't it? Gives everyone a chance to go to every game. Some people will not get to go, but that is a chance EVERYONE takes when they plunk down their hard earned cash for a FAIR chance at going for a reasonable price.




Or, maybe, we could sell a ticket for £25 a week that GUARANTEES you get to see EVERY HOME GAME? We could call it a "seasoncard" and it would give you access to the same seat every game, so you could choose where you sit. Wait, even better, we could make the best seats £30, so that we could subsidize other seats and make those less expensive, maybe £20 per game. In fact, if we do that, and there are any seats left, we can make those even cheaper, say, £16 per game.

The only catch is that you have to agree to pay to go to ALL the games, BUT you don't have to pay for them all at the same time, because not everyone can afford that. Instead, you get to pay for it in interest-free installments, as long as you've shown you can manage to do that.




OR, we could simply hold an auction for each seat. Highest bid wins, until all 47,000 seats are sold. Unlimited bidding by whomever wants to bid. No restriction on anyone bidding as many times as they want, or on as many tickets as they want.


YOU decide how this BUSINESS should be run! I would like to think they'd come down. I think the high prices are also there to push people into buying a season ticket for next year.

I personally think the price is far too high and if I didn't have a season ticket I would struggle to justify it.
On the other hand it will be one of the most sought after tickets if the season, first game at home and against the scousers so city are going to price it high, I just wonder if the majority of people moaning, are going to go to the less attractive matches which will be priced lower?

Of course they are, mate! We sold out every inexpensive game last season, right? I mean...a Champions League game is a big game, isn't it? We sold out all of those, right? And, they were all really expensive, right???

If the prices were a quid, some people STILL WOULDN'T GO! However, there is a financial threshold over which people will not cross for EVERYTHING IN LIFE...otherwise everyone would have everything! Football is no different! We moan about Swales and his TV Repair Shop mentality and the lack of success, when you could get in for a quid or two, and then we moan about the most successful period in the history of the club watching some of the best players in the world when it costs £50!

Stepping back for a second, the club literally cannot make the prices reflect the desires and financial threshold of every person (financially successful in life or not), but they can use the basic economics that drive the world, such as supply and demand.

Yes, demand outstrips supply for big games and thus price reflects that limited supply and excess demand. When it comes time for the League Cup game against Grimsby, the same economic market forces will apply. When you go in your local and a pint is £5, I'm sure you will use your consumer sentiment to reflect your demand for that supply of beer and forego the immediate satisfaction by walking down the road where it is under £4. You do this Maths in your head every day about everything you buy, often spending too much for stuff you really really want, and not bothering for things you don't. In fact, you see it at every City game.....pints can't be pulled quick enough, and pies are gone by the end of half time, yet they are certainly not the same price as they are at Morrison's up the street!!

Anyone NEED an iPhone? Yet they fly off the shelves at previously unfathomable prices. Genius!

Fine while we have a truckload of tourists ready to step in, but not so good when we have an extra 12k seats to fill, or if the bubble bursts on the pitch.

For me football clubs have a greater responsibility to its "customers" than a normal business. Ours has survived for decades because of the loyalty of its supporters. While that loyalty remains it will continue to survive, with or without your Yaya's and Aguero's.
