Liverpool could be thrown out of Carabao Cup

But wasnt he an unregistered youth player, I.e. a kid?

no he isn’t.
“Spaniard Chirivella, 22, was making his first Liverpool appearance since May 2016 having been out on loan at Dutch sides Go Ahead Eagles and Willem II, plus Spain's Extremadura, over the last three seasons.”

On what evidence?

Evidence of what? That they don't want out of the league cup? Just listen to Pep talk before the game (he did the pre match, not klopp) and he gives an interesting insight to why Liverpool have no established senior backups for each position (the way almost all other top clubs does). If Liverpool are to progress and have the same depth that city has, they are depending on players like Ki Jana, Jones, Elliot and Brewster to develop into quality first team players.

That won't happen without games "at the right moment". So having the possibility to play 2-3 up and comers, in the early stages of the league cup and FA Cup, is pretty important for Liverpool as a club.

£200k fine with £100K of it suspended.

No one really thought they would throw the cheating ****s out did they?

Not really that arsed tbh. Probably better to have them competing on another front.
Exactly... I think they would have been happy to get booted out and blame the FA. Better to be in the competition, if they field to ineligible players next time I hope they get a bigger fine and forced to play the tie again ;)

So they fielded a player despite not being able to get clearance in time.

And the mitigating circumstances, leading to a fine - part suspended - rather than a heavier punishment, is that they, er, weren’t able to get clearance in time.

Makes perfect sense to me.
