Liverpool FA Cup s/f (N) | Post Match Thread

Grealish aside and its still early days, name one player in our current squad who isn't excellent value against the fee we paid.

Excellent value is too subjective. However for example the amount we paid for Rodri I'd like a top, world class defensive midfielder. As it is he needed a year to get up to speed and still needs two other players around him (Bernardo and Foden) to do the running he can't do. When Gundogan is next to him he really struggles.

What am saying is that almost all our transfers are very expensive and take a year to fit in. They got 3 excellent players who have slotted into their team perfectly and all for the price of Grealish.

Need to get rid of a few of these lads over summer. Too many “good lads” who try a bit but are ultimately not good enough when needed

I couldn’t go today (with a wife who’s 38+ week pregnant) and I was gutted this morning.

God I’m so happy I didn’t go to that one.

Credit to all you blues who went. It wasn’t our day. Let’s see who wins the big pots in May.

if we the staff is happy to throw in games like this then no need to play too strong teams to reach the semis in the earlier rounds. like risking injury to very important players the vs the likes of Fulham, Wycombe etc.

Dias got injured for 6 weeks because he played vs Peterborough of all teams.

but wasnt risked today when he is doing full training since days and was on bench for Atletico as well?

handle these cup games earlier rounds with the same importance as we handle them at the semis stage last year this year. and we can get our players being much more relaxed, less injured etc for the run in of the season.
and we go out in 4th round rather than the semis? well I prefer that than go far and lose like today.

That first half was on the players, individual mistakes, a lack of intensity, craft & creativity, bottle, hunger, risk & lots more. The same players turned it around second half & ran them close, was that Pep or the players? I’d say Pep gave them the platform & opportunity but it was the eleven on the pitch that produced the performance. What do you consider Peps fuck ups? Yes we could be in an fa cup final with another blood & thunder tie against a highly motivated opponent (probably Chelsea) who have nothing else to play for. But we could also be sat ere with 3-4 season ending injuries, and a squad that was shattered & demoralised and lost the game anyway. For years now our support has wanted Pep to prioritise the big two comps (like Klopp), the minute this is almost forced on him/us people are up in arms ycnmiu. Our squad has been shown as weaker than Liverpools, therefore we have adjusted accordingly, you could say roles have been reversed. Maybe the answer lies with our transfer policy, Diaz Konate & Jota for a little more than a Jack Grealish
The last sentence hits the nail on the head.

Yeah his team selections in cup comps does not make any sense.

No zip about our play today. No real urgency. We get one back early doors but nothing really after that . Just a weird performance and nothing to get excited about.
Feel sorry for Stefen. Ake did well but apart from that there was nothing to write home about but considering what had taken place the last week it seems a little bit over the top to be too hard on the boys.

I don’t like being critical of out support but today was grim. Just nothing in my block. No passion no one seeming to care just nothing. Way too may half and half scarfs, too many people on their phones and just a really poor away end. Considering what i know our support is and can be I was just left a bit exasperated and given shitty looks when I tried to get something going or for people to stand up and get behind the teams.

Then to top it all the tube back with a carriage full of those fans giving me shit and having the balls to say we are a tin pot club and had no crowd back in the 80s.. easy to get lively when you have a backing. He didn’t like it when I just kept repeating that he was a liar. Just one of my least enjoyable days following this wonderful club. Maybe a tad harsh on the following today but not what I associate with city.
I was sat on half way line next to the Liverpool fans giving us loads of grief and it was just funny as I knew to be sat where they was, if it was anything like my area, was mainly foreign fans and half scarfers so I didn't even look at them. It's that online mentality at games like these. All the banter without any real threat of the violence that was associated with it in the past.

The end behind the goal was alright at times from where I was sat but you're expecting a lot at 3 0 down. Flip it round and we'd be rocking.
