Liverpool (h) - CL QF post match thread

Need a reply to this please. . . A “mate” replied to Ollie Holt on Twitter talking about not letting the last 3 games tarnish the season, it’s still 13 points!

“Fair play , but do you not think with all the money they have “old big ears” still alludes them ! I guess you can’t buy the big one !! YNWA!!”

History has a habit of repeating itself so hopefully there is still opportunity for them to be banned from Europe....YNWA!!

There's only a few things guaranteed in life. Death, taxes and a player of Salah's calibre staying in a racist shithole like Liverpool for more than two seasons.

Taken some time to calm down and reflect on the past week but feelings remain the same.

VAR is needed.
This may sound like sour grapes but when it's the same decisions going against us in big games - things need to change.

Liverpool 1st Leg:
Salah goal at 0-0 - marginally offside - goal stands.
Jesus goal at 3-0 - onside - disallowed.

Liverpool 2nd Leg:
Sane goal at 1-0 - onside - disallowed.

As offside can't be washed over as 'subjective' - that is a definite 3 goal swing (rightly so) in our favour.
The outcome of the tie changes completely.
I won't even touch on the blatant penalties in the derby, not to mention the numerous red cards players have avoided against us throughout the course of the season.

I don't care if VAR slows things down by a few minutes whilst a review is made.
I don't care if it sucks a drop of fun out of football.
There's nothing fun about feeling hard done by to yet another shocking display by officials.
Nothing at all.

I don’t even think VAR would have been used even if it was an option. It’s only if the ref is unsure himself, otherwise right or wrong he’ll stick by his decision.

The only way VAR works is if there’s someone in another room watching the game and every time a wrong call is made he tells the ref he needs to take another look at something. But I don’t think that’s how it’s set up (is it?). And even if that was the way it was set up the ref kinda becomes pointless.

Something definitely needs to be done that’s for sure.

To be perfectly honest, this last week has taken the gloss off the season. That's strange given that we'll be champions.

Trust me, you’ll feel different when you see us lift that trophy.
Funnily enough, I’m already over the Liverpool business, but still smarting from the derby. The lads are pretty shot, it’s obvious, after the magnificent season they’ve given us. The tiredness is more mental than physical, imo, although the second is not to be discounted.
The return of Mendy could be just the tonic to reinject into the shark team. What a good time for him to come back.

Every big decision which includes goals is looked at. For example in the Carabao cup final they mentioned that VAR had been looked at when Sane was standing in an offside position on Kompanys goal...but it didn't stop play and no one knew about it

Fowler and McPointalot robbed wages from us. Barton was just an utter moron - should have had a far better career than he did. Have we ever had a decent scouser play for us? Steve Redmond is the only one that comes to mind.

Big Joe

Reffing ineptitude or worse. My mate is a Sunday league ref. Recently, a certain high profile ref from these parts (can't mention his name for obvious reasons) gave the Manchester Sunday league refs a motivational talk. He repeated the mantra 'Manage the situation'. Said a Prem game he was reffing got out of hand. In the melee, he said "I booked the culprit from team X, but didn't know who the guilty party from the other team was. I made an educated guess and booked the hot head. I still don't know whether I booked the right player, but it calmed the situation down." With refs like that (and I don't trust this ref as far as I could throw him) we have no chance. They're supposed to call it as they see it, not guess.
Guess the game?
