Liverpool (H) - Post-Match Thread

yeah, they way pep took that penalty, the way pep missed that header,

he set the team up to stop what liverpool do, he did that, walkers brain fart, penalty and Jesus header, we should of won that due to pep,
I agree with this, the only complaint I would make is not bringing foden on. That reeked of settling for a draw.

Pedestrian double pivot, a knackered and then for the last 15 clearly injured Kev, then toothless in attack.

Sort the defence out finally and now we can't score more than a goal a game.

Something needs to click soon up top.
Sterling jesus and foden Need to be our front three In big games. We look dynamite with those three pressing and moving.

Given myself time to calm down. In the second half they were therr for the taking but this Pep appeared to move Gundi to make a back 5. Two years ago he would have tried to win the game.

you are mental. When Sane scores 30 in a season in all competitions talk to me. He is also injured a lot. Sterling whilst admittedly struggling for form is never injured and will put up much higher numbers than Sane will this season and the next and the next. At the end of their careers it will be like comparing David Silva and Juan Mata.
Did you see the Bayern game yesterday?

Forgive me if I'm repeating anything
I know it's "every German's dream" to play for the German rags, but we should have moved heaven and earth to keep Sane, and flogged Sterling to the highest bidder. Too many touches, gives the opposition that crucial half a second to adapt. Sterling gives the opposition that opportunity. Sane didn't.
That chance in the first half SHOULD have been buried
What makes you think we didnt do everything to keep Sane?

Genuine question but is this exactly what we have been calling for?

How many times have we said we need to tighten up at the back, not only with a new centre half but also with our formation.

We have done so this season but the trade off is that we are nowhere near as attacking and expansive as in the past. Today was typical of a match we could have won or lost 4-2 over the last 3 seasons. I suspect that as we are not firing on all cylinders at present Pep is being a lot more pragmatic. Win our game in hand and we are only 2 points behind the dippers, if we had lost today then best case we would still be 5 points behind.
Almost a valid argument but I think the two are separate. The defence is a big upgrade on last season and looks like it will only get stronger.

Our midfield and front line are not firing but don’t think that’s to do with the defence - we’ve had a few injuries and some key players finding their way back. Also a few guys playing at 80% of what they are probably capable of. Some games we’ve looked good in both departments but inconsistent at the moment.

To be fair I was looking at our fixture list and it’s absolutely brutal to the festive period and beyond - no wonder us and most other teams are struggling.

I really think Raz and KDB need to be included in the rotation to help keep them fresh.

Pep's lost his bottle. By all means come on and call me a rag, a wus or anything else you want on one condition. Explain why with 15 minutes to go and key players so dead on their feet that they couldn't pass, had no desire to get forward, clearly were playing out time and he made 1 sub? He got Foden ready and had multiple chances to get him on. We have 1 fit striker and this was his first full game yet he risked injury keeping him on. You are welcome to explain Pep's thinking.
Because, as already explained, eleven players would have ended up at A & E. Do keep up, man.

I think Pep may be adapting the team with a particular eye on the champions league. We definately more sturdy at the back and we don't seem to commit anywhere nears as many numbers forward as previous season. Maybe the pressure of no champions league has caused this change. Only time will tell if its going to be a positive change.
