Best thing I can say about the game is to see how we matched pool at while adjusting to a new system. Once we click (early signs from today) itll be hard to stop us.

Hope we sharpen up ahead of next weekend.

Really surprised to hear that we've only played two friendlies.

dont really like the fact we keep losing this trophy. even if glorified friendly and all that, then we might as well put up better fight, preparation etc to win it. was Pep losing supercups at Barca, Bayern with same "who cares" mentality?
would have loved to win this one today and shove it down few my scouser mates throat.

lets hope lot of stuff is happening next week on the training ground, we gave much more extra time off for the players, especially the ones not included in the nations league games and those had a break pretty much since CL final.

This VV

Haaland didn't have a bad game.

First half his movement was pretty good

It was his team mates carrying on playing like we were still playing False 9 from last season.

Thought we looked much better when Mahrez was hooked. More direct play through the middle than that insipid wing play repeated over.

It is going to take a few games to get Haaland established in to the team.

We could have done with more of a pre-season. Liverpool already look like they are up to speed.

As a striker if you miss 2 sitters you’ve had a bad game IMO

It was just shit and so many mistakes. Haaland came off the bench v Bayern and scored after 12 mins, Nunez the 64m man etc etc. It went on and on. And why do we have to have a women commentator on when she is THAT shit. If she was any good and had any knowledge then great. But this box ticking is getting on my fuckin tits!!!!
She's here to stay unfortunately. Looks like she's had an image makeover too so going to get more game time for the next few seasons. Surely there are better alternatives out there (of any gender).

Important bits for me -

1. Clear lack of individual fitness and match sharpness throughout the team as evidenced by lack of shuttle running, not being first to loose balls and being easily knocked off the ball.

2. Players so used to a false 9 they were unsure how to play with a target man. Haaland made many a run but the pass wasn’t forthcoming.

3. Thought Haaland had a good debut. Got himself in the right place at the right time a few times. Fluffed his lines a bit but on another day they go in and he walks away with a couple of goals. Liked what I saw from him but needs to improve his fitness if we’re using him as a first press.

4. Alvarez looks a grafter and clever little player. Gives us something different.

5. Thought the dippers were pretty mediocre and the score line flattered them. No signs of them having changed anything about how they play / what they do. They were fitter / sharper and looked like they were further on in their preparations than us.

We need to get fitter and sharper and learn how to work with Haaland. Once we do that it’ll be normal service resumed.
