Liverpool pay City £1 million in "spy" settlement for hacking - biggest PL scandal

Didn't somebody post a list of ex Spurs and Chelsea scouts, that have joined Liverpool in recent years? I hope they are checking for a similar pattern, in light of this news.
Good point. The rest of the Premier League's clubs should be calling in the IT experts to trace activity in their ex-employee records.

I'd imagine that if FIFA or the Premier league demand the information off use City would be obliged to respond.

I don't see how FIFA and the Premier League can avoid not looking into this. Now that it is in the public domain they have to investigate. What would fans of Chelsea FC make of it if Liverpool are reported to have acquired data regarding another club's scouting activity, and then the football authorities showed complete disregard.

City are already pursuing a process of due process and bias in the football regulatory process. Are UEFA/FIFA/Premier League going to make our case for us i.e. prove that the regulatory and investigative process is prejudicial? You shall be judged by your actions.
Considering UEFA have investigated City on the back of stolen/hacked information, then surely football's governing bodies must be demanding information on this!!

A bit of credit to those journalists who have pursued this story.

The interesting aspect for me is not really the limited press coverage, which I think we all now expect, but the response of football's authorities. What are the Premier League, UEFA and FIFA going to do?

I doubt City could use this directly in the on-going arbitration case but it's context; the competitive nature of football and the role of football's authorities in that competition, is illuminating. Consider the investigations and scrutiny of all Manchester City's business, and then compare it to the nature of the offence reported here.

Liverpool fans must be cringing with embarrassment at how their holier than thou club has been exposed.
Liverpool fans embarrassed? You must be joking, they wouldn't be embarrsssed if they were caught in bed with their grannies or jumping up and down on a police van....oh.

I don't think anyone's surprised at the dippers stealing something, just the complete lack of any serious press coverage whatsoever. I mean I'd expect it to be buried half way down the BBC Football home page as a matter of course, but I didn't expect them to literally not write a story at all. Most of the other papers have at least done a story on it, but the BBC has absolutely nothing. Even the Echo covered it.
Even Marca covered it.

You would think so, and what of any wider activity carried out by Liverpool FC?

They should want to clear their name, because when you start to think about this, there are players that Liverpool could have acquired which affected the outcome of games, and led to relegations etc. It undermines the whole game. It is something that the authorities have to look at.

We've got them either way here. If they don't do anything, then Football's authorities are exposed as biased, which is the basis of City's UEFA / CAS case, and if they do investigate, then if the allegations are substantiated, Liverpool will get absolutely hammered.

Has anyone asked this?

Why did those 2 Scouts leave City for Littlewoods?

We’re they offered more money?

Was that the be all and end all of it?

Where they Liverpool fans?

Surely, their working environment at Littlewoods can’t be any better than at City?

Don’t forget City’s head Physio joined Littlewoods as well.

It looks like FSG and Littlewoods have targeted City on purpose to try and get an insider insight into how City is run.

Right, City hired an expert to figure out what was going on, and it turned out a Liverpool employee was using City's credentials. Do you see other information somewhere?

Read the stories before spouting shit. Yes we hired an expert. Yes it was a serious breach. No it was not his own password that City forget to close down. 99 pages of information and discussion and you decide to start at page 99 with ill informed, no with no information and spout shit. I despair.!!

The post you quoted says "a Liverpool employee was using City's credentials". Go despair over something else.

Yep, the ramifications of this could be huge and far-reaching, and only a properly conducted and full enquiry can find out.
Khaldoon’s words about glass houses and stone throwers are starting to resonate now.
Maybe we could get 14 other clubs to sign a letter demanding action be taken!!

You made this post and a slightly earlier post where you belittled the criminal offence committed by Liverpool. You posted 'Frankly, I don't think it's that interesting of a story. For a few months six years ago a former employee used an old password and proceeded to do fuck all with the information, and then we settled it for what is basically a token sum.'

I love the comment 'and proceeded to do fuck all with the information'. You must be the only City fan that holds that view especially as it is wrong, stupid and pathetic.
