Liverpool Post Match Thread

As usual (whether we win or lose) everyone is over reacting. The lack of respect for Pellegrini is mad - won the double, finished second, and now well placed to win the league again despite a bad day at the office. Unless we win 38/38 games in a season there will always be people on this forum calling for the managers head.

He's a better manager than Manuel so why the surprise, sum of there parts and all that, Liverpool thouroughly deserved there win, arrogant set up from Pellegrini today, it's gung ho football , great when we score the first goal but fucking suicidle when the opposition score first. No cover when Yaya inevitably loses the ball, felt sorry for Fernando today , no help in there whatsoever.
I personally wasn't suprised. I gamble for a living so won around £400 from that result today could see it a mile off.

Yes mate but you cant have a squad of world class players. Even barca have players like Bartra and Rafinha who arent world class. Zaba has been injured but is still the top right back in english football.
I really don't agree. Zabaleta is a spent force.

I don't know what angers me more: the performance itself, or Pellegrini saying he can't explain why it happened. If you can't explain it, then pack your bags and leave because it's really not that difficult to see why that happened today.

+1

Very sad game. Similar to the other 4-1, just not good enough.
It's hard to argue that the team selection wasn't wrong, especially since we made two changes at half-time. I personally think the players who started are capable of so much better. The changes were in midfield but I thought the problems started at the back. We were really shaky, and that lack of quality seemed to infect the whole team by the end.
I remember when Demichelis and Mangala were pretty much our best pairing at the end of the 13/14 season so it was really awful to watch. Sterling was in the spotlight, booed every time he was on the ball; we seemed to try and play him in loads but it really wasn't to be today.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I hope to see our best team on the pitch soon. But we do need to play better especially without Kompany.
De Bruyne was pretty good, Delph looks promising, Hart made 2 or 3 good saves. The best thing was Sergio's return and brilliant goal.

I think this loss will be a lot easier to take for everyone if we beat Juventus and finnish top of the CL group... with the team that should have played today.
Poor set up by Pellegrini - the 2 man midfield with Yaya should be consigned to the bin. Not sure if Otamendi and Fernandinho just weren't ready after the international break but the back 4 looked risky even before kick off. Did Klopp out tactic Pellegrini or was he helped by the injures to Sturridge and Benteke meaning he had to play extra midfielders and therefore our 2 man mid set up helped him even more.
Having said all that about Pellegrini, what can you do if you're him about Mangala's og ? Totally beyond comprehension how he passed it into the bottom corner. Could he also legislate for MDM's fuck up for the second goal too ? Sagna and Mangla both had stinkers and it may be that events in Paris last weekend affected them more than anyone could anticipate. Yaya Toure...when a player's bad games start to become commonplace and the good ones few and far between it's time to bench them. Sterling - I am really not convinced by him and never have been. Seems to lack 'belief'. Doesn't leave it all on the pitch either, for my money. The players did not turn up today and there was no one to organise or lead and they were outfought and outplayed. Shocking lack of commitment and fight all round. We should not be made to look so shit by a team whose main tactic is to press and hunt in packs.
I really don't agree. Zabaleta is a spent force.
He's 30!

When I saw the team sheet beforehand I feared the worst seeing MDM picked before Ottamendi and Yaya protecting him. Who in the right mind sets up like that against a team full of running.
In the pre-match interview he was asked if the selection was based on the up coming CL game - "No, the team was picked to get the three points". Yeh, right.
Last season we struggled as he repeatedly rotated his back four with widespread changes - he did it again today. How much game time have MDM and Mangala had in the past few weeks - bugger all. So he should have started with Otamendi and taken him off in the second half if he was tiring given his international duties. Same with Fernandinho.
Liverpool fully deserved their win and luckily for us it wasn't double figures due to Joe's heroics.

Having had a few hours to calm myself down and reflect on today's game I have come to the conclusion that I am still f*****g furious at the team selection and the failure to realise continental shelves move considerably faster than a midfield with Yaya and Fernando in it.
I never ever want to see that pair in front of the chuckle brothers in central defence again.
Never!
