Liverpool Post Match Thread

I don't want to seem petty minded but my view on Liverpool is that they and Klopp did nothing unexpected and his team played very much the same as they had in the defeat to Palace, in the 1-0 win over Bournmouth and in the 3-1 win at Chelsea. What was unexpected was the way we decided to stand back and admire them. If we give any side in the PL (or the championship) the time and space we gave Liverpool on Saturday we will be beaten comfortably.[/QUOTE]

Fully agree with this mate!

Try watching the game dispassionately - I've watched the whole game replay twice since Saturday - it piggin' hurts like a b*@tch - obviously, we were abysmal but I stand by the view that they hit us in periods when we were on top - that even applied to their last goal.

It might have been a sort of on top but creating nothing kind of way. The first half highlights on the official site only showed Sergio's goal from us first half.

I think the vast majority of Prem teams would have beaten us Saturday but Liverpool had some slick passing moments. Whilst all goals came from either errors or lack of commitment to tackle, some of their passing was good and the back heel for the third was quality. (The rest of the play from us around the third was abysmal)

This.

Yea. I cannot accept a team sheet written on a white flag or a performance by both players and manager to match. We can't sack the players and we all know, from past experience and his own words after the match, that Pellers will neither learn nor change.

There is nothing to be gained from labouring on, even if we manage to win games despite him. The only thing in his favour might be we cannot get a better guy at this point of the season.

It's not just the formation. That would be too simple. Sagna, Navas, even Mangala did have strong performances before the international break.
First half last Saturday was terrible! No confidence at all, mistakes all over the place. The team didn't have any answers to the tactical and mental challenges. That leaves to me the feeling that they are not very well prepared to react using a variety of different 'instruments'.

Klopps tactics are well known. There is enough open space in a high pressing team. Why couldn't they use it??
After such a shocking performance and so many questions left I have lost some confidence in the team and the manager.
My only hope is a one time influence of "Paris". But then again the capitulation at Tottenham comes to my mind.

Seems it takes more time to implement a winning mentality for every match at a club. You have to work hard and every day for such a philosophy. Bayern has it. United once had it bit more than nowadays. At least good to know that Real does no better in their Clasico...

Winning mentality is missing in the stands, too. So frustrating that the home ground allowed the away fans to piss on a Blue Boy without any reaction, no nill support for Raheem. We gave them away everything for free. No fight, no roar, no nothing.
What has to happen to make this place loud? Except for a 4-0 lead.

The worst thing about Saturday's result is all the Liverpool fans who've been very quiet for years have suddenly appeared again. I got "form is temporary and class is permanent" texts from two people who haven't spoken to me about football in years.

Our wretched performance will play up to their sense of entitlement for years. We really need to win in Anfield this season to send them back under their rocks again.

I think Sagna and Mangala can be excused for a drop off in form since the international break.
