Liverpool Post Match Thread

First time Ive left a match early for about 10 years. Couldn't stomach any more of the shambles before my eyes

One of the most inept manager performances I've ever seen

Our best two players for the past month have been Otamendi and Fernandinho. The silly old coont thinks it's a good idea to drop both and prioritise a dead rubber CL game and play a centre half 2 years past his sell by date

After 60 mins we're on top and if we score the next goal there's a great chance we get at least a draw. The silly old coont thinks it's a good idea to take off the best striker in Europe and put on a kid

Baffling ... And I just wish there was a manager available now to step in and replace the silly old coont

Juve on Wednesday a 'dead rubber'? There's only one 'silly old coont' I can think of

okay so say you were in charge, you would have set the team up the same way then ?? that setup doesn't work and we get over-run all day when the team is put in the same formation with Yaya in as 1 of the 2. The fans can see it, the pundits can see it, but hey our manager can't but you seem okay with that

Ye I'm fine with it.

I think this loss will be a lot easier to take for everyone if we beat Juventus and finnish top of the CL group... with the team that should have played today.

Yeah it was awful today
Ffs though its November not May
Lets put it behind us and get set for Turin

just seen an open top bus going down the east lancs road :)

I'm surprised Manuel changed it up at half time. He normally sits there looking like he's sniffed a full gram of ketamine, refusing to move until it's too late. Whilst he may have acted earlier today, the problem is every man and his dog knew before the game how we needed to line up - it's unforgivable how Manuel sent us out today.

Well, possibly our worst performance for a good number of years. Couldn't believe the lack of get up and go after the break, offered nothing up front. I said many times last season that MDM was finished, his pace had gone and todays abject performance should mean he doesn't play again, he's clearly past it. As is possibly Toure, his influence on this team is very much waning and for him to go off at half time says a lot.
Mangala was appalling, the guy, without a top class centre back like Otamendi or VK beside him is not good enough.
I was worried when I saw that team line up, lacking in pace and set up completely the wrong way. Our 2nd 4-1 humping this season, how many teams lose 4-1 twice in a season and end up champions? Not many I'll guess.
Kolarov, if he's not offering something up front, is a liability at the back. His crossing today was poor, again....since his goal at Everton he has been poor.
Who is behind our transfer policy in terms of having the final say? Mandala & Sterling are 2 colossal wastes of nearly £90million & Fernando resorted to type today as well. Yeah yeah yeah, I know...blah blah, "Sterling is only 12 and a half, give him time" etc etc...really? He was utter pish last season for Liverpool and has had 1 good season, or half a good season to date in his professional career...long enough for us to think spending nearly £50m on him was a sound move. At best, he is average.
I've been behind MP since day one and defended him but today.....poor tactical line up played right into their hands. Even when they were spanking us 3-0 and it was nearly 4/5 he felt things weren't bad enough to make a change...astonishing. When we won the league 2 years ago we lost 3 of our first 8/9 games, those defeats were games we should have won and played quite well in...our defeats this season have been different, 2 thumping 4-1's and a 2-1 defeat by West Ham which reeked of indifference and casualness.
Luckily, it's a very open league this season and we're still right in there but jesus, we need Silva and Kompany back and playing every week and we need a fit Kun to lift us, even a 3/4 fit Kun managed to score today, conjuring up something out of nothing & giving us some hope out of an almighty mess of a performance.
Yes, I'm probably over reacting but I'm really pretty pissed off after that shambles, doesn't exactly fill you full of confidence does it? Our record against the so called big teams continues to be rank under MP.

Ouch. That was unacceptable.

No doubt, it will be a long night on here. That has to be up there as one of the most disappointing performances since the Sheikh took over. I have always backed the manager but after that, I'm not so sure.

As soon as the team was announced, and reading the subsequent posts on the pre-match thread, I thought "How can they know better than an experienced manager?"

However, after watching the manner in which we were over run and embarrassed in that first half, I have to ask why couldn't a professional manager forsee what a bunch of blues on a website predicted?

Don't want to overreact but I think this is a watershed:

I am still confident we will win the league but don't think Manuel will be manager next season.

Stand firm. CTID

I don't take any loss especially when we are as insipid as we were today any easier if we win our next game no matter the competition.

We haven't learnt anything from last seasons shortcomings from the manager down.

Too often a defensive shambles and being outplayed by sides we should be beating comfortably.

Check the tables. There's a very good chance we could get an easier game if we finish 2nd than if we finish 1st. I would much rather we prioritised today's match than Juve

That was fucking atrocious from the word go. First of all Sagna and Mangala shouldn't have been anywhere near that starting line up. Every single one of us sat in and around my seat said the same and once the game kicked off it wasn't hard to see their heads weren't on the game.
After that it just went wrong in pretty much every area of the pitch. The whole back four were disorganised, there were no leaders anywhere along the line and time and time again Liverpool were allowed space and time to pick their passes in and around us. The midfield, Ahh fuck it, I can't even be arsed going into it with regards to Yaya - he's fucking spent and that was as poor a 45 minutes as ive seen from him, this coming off what I thought was his worse ever 45 against villa.
Simple passes were either over hit or under hit or on occasion just fucking hit for the sake of it. Second balls were lost all over the pitch and we looked like we didn't give a fuck on kore than one loose ball. I'm fucking fuming that the best team in the league can fall apart so easily. The shape was all over the place, the energy levels were low and we made a pretty average team look far better than they are. All their goals came from our own inability to make the right decisions at the right time.

Aguero and KDB aside there nobody on that pitch who can hold their heads up tonight.

Oh, and the happy clappers (who I'd like to think I'm one myself in general) can get to fuck with their "it's alright, we'll be back" shite. That was a disgrace and there shouldn't be any ducking the very real issues we face moving forward.

Who gives a fuck about winning the group , we have qualified and it stinks of a last hoora for Manuel in the CL, he got it wrong today and consistently does in big games.

Everything about the club from the facilities to the players is World class except for the management team. It is absolutely bizarre that we haven't hired one.

Completely agree. I'm sure our owners know this as well and will be rectifying it sooner rather than later

Strange team selection,no fire in our belly, all Liverpool did was press us and we had zero movement anywhere on the pitch, gutless, 3-0 down at home and Pellers is sat down, wish i was as calm.
