Liverpool Post Match Thread

Walking up Alan Turing way yesterday when I saw the team. My reaction will have been the same as everyone else's. Absolutely staggered that after being more pragmatic in recent weeks (something I have complimented Pellers on) he reverted back to type.

Sagna looked all over the show. Totally understandable after the events in Paris. Tweedle dee and Tweedle dumb at centre back are just an accident waiting to happen and i thought the days of yaya in a midfield 2 in the big games were gone. Clearly not.

We still have time to put things right ". Let's hope Pellers now realises the error of his ways .

The positive for me was the performances of Delph. Thought he gave our midfield pace and lots of energy. Hope to see him and Fernandinho start in midweek.

I agree they overwhelmed our non-existent midfield, but it was entirely down to high energy. Nothing more sophisticated than that

all their 3 goals first half were down to quick incisive football that we couldn't compete with which were enabled by the high pressing and our complete lack of composure(again) under the high press

That first half an hour was probably the best a team has played against us for some time, it really could of been 5-0 by half time. What worries me and really the worst thing I saw was the reaction, Pellegrini looked completely dejected. There is no way in hell we were going to get back into that game no matter how hard we tried. The substitutions also completely baffled me, Yaya was the only real creative force in midfield as De Bruyne was being forced out wide and he was hauled off. Aguero also was firing for a 2nd and he also got taken off.

The game was crying for us to get Fernandinho into midfield to stem the control Coutinho had but when he did get on it was too late. The entire team selection was just all wrong for me and unbalanced, we were wide open for the entire first half.

I really think after getting the goal back we could of had a chance with our best players on the pitch but that chance was butchered. We were never going to get back into the game without a belief to do so and I think the manager threw the towel in at HT in favour of this weeks game in Turin.

This season is not panning out as it should and unfortunately no matter which way you cut it we pretty much belong in 3rd place the way we are defending and failing to put chances away. The defending was atrocious but the attack at times equally was too. Let's not forget, Leicester have now scored more goals than us.

Still not fully calmed down from that non performance yesterday. MP has to shoulder the blame for that, I was hoping he had turned the corner with his stubbornness and inability too change following the Sevilla game where he got it spot on.

Yesterday was the biggest mauling we have had in the league for years. I despise everything about Liverpool, especially their self pitying, victim mentality, snidey gobshite fans, so for them to turn us over like they did made it even worse.

When I seen the team sheet, my heart sank, what the fuck was MP playing at, our two most consistent performers benched, Yaya in a two no longer works, our back four had no cohesion, no pace and no clue how too handle a vibrant, energetic Liverpool attack, and they were getting no help or support from the midfield, it was woeful and painful to watch.

The tittle wasn't lost yesterday, it is wide open, the scum got lucky ( so I'm told, not seen it ) Leicester are playing well and sit proudly on the top, there is a hungry chasing pack, so we can't afford many more fuck ups, its their for the taking, but I have a feeling MP will prevent it happening now he has reverted to type again.

I have that match day app and was gutted when I saw the team. Knew Silva was out but to start Toure and Navas wide, and play Demichelis was just handing them the game.

When Klopp saw that team sheet his heart must have leapt as ours sunk

I hope Pellegrini never makes that mistake again. I don't think he will to be honest. Managers make mistakes. Some are very stubborn and don't learn but Pellegrini's half time subs said it all

Whether we win the title or not is down to the fitness of Aguero, Silva and Kompany. We could possible do without Kompany if Otamendi and Mangala form a partnership, but Silva and Aguero are key.

We've done well results wise since Silva and Aguero got injured but apart from Sevilla, our performances have dropped a lot.

Well to judge by his comments, Pellers didn't think it was a mistake. Neither does he understand what happened. It's not a mistake when you do something that fails repeatedly. He won't learn from this any more than he learned from previous occurences.

Maybe he thought they needed resting because of their internationals. There were 2 South American qualifiers in the international break and Delph has had a nightmare with injuries.

I thought that the Derby setup was evidence that Pellegrini had recognised you can't play Toure and our usual attacking open game, but today's starting line up was suicidal against a manager renowned for his pressing game.

Totally disagree about Mangala. When he plays regularly he plays well and has been so at the back end of last season and the start of this season when he was playing week in week out. Now he's lost his place and he comes back and struggles. That is entirely predictable. We have seen it with Dzeko, Jovetic, Bony and more or less every top player who became a fringe player. If you want squad players at their best you must play them regularly. It's difficult

Great point about Mangala

Joe hart although making two good blocks when game was lost needs to take a look at himself. His judgment coming out of his box is poor and could have cost us dearly. Not sure who is advising him on his kicking if anybody but it is woeful.he seems to put a backspin on it which plays into advantage of opposition rather than leather ing it whereby a flick on would have it up the other end away from our keystone cops defenders.

I am not sure that there is anything more to Klopp than press press press.
There isn't - but when his players are still willing to run for him, you have to at least match it or you will get slaughtered, as we did. For 20 mins after half time we gave them a bit of their own medicine and they looked shaky, but we were unable or unwilling to keep it up any longer.

Hard work beats talent unless the talent works hard, and we were really not up for working yesterday. I honestly don't think we're a great team, and most teams outwork us, we just have some individually brilliant players. Unfortunately due to crap lineups and injuries, our frailties were exposed big time.

They've struggled in other games but played exactly the same way. I am not a big fan of the Klopp style and I don't think he will succeed at Liverpool because most managers will react and respond to their style. We were chasing the game of course they were creating better chances. Pellegrini got his tactics wrong and his starting line up wrong. The only thing I will say in his defence is that he did change it at half time, and in previous games he had shown some recognition of the limitation of Toure.

And the changes made zero difference other than making us look like we wouldn't score.

He should have changed it after 25
Mins we were that bad.

Klopp owned him yesterday. We are stuck with him now though so have to hope he sorts this out because 11 points out of 24 is wank!

Any side would miss 3 world class players especially in each area of the pitch ...we WILL still go on to win the leeg

Yeah Liverpool were missing ten. Still wiped the floor with City, because their manager respected the opposition, the league, & the fans wishes & desire to win this game.

Ours is interested in protecting his own arse by topping the Champions League group & the game, the league & the fans can all just fuck off if they get in his way.

Either that or he's just a fucking clown who is taking us all for a ride.

Nobody who has ever seen a Klopp team play, would pick that City 11. Pellegrini says he would do it again. That means either he would do it again because he is prioritising the champs lg, or he would do it again because he thinks it's the best use of our squad for that game.

Either option stinks.

3 wins in last 8 league games now & they were all at home against Norwich, Bournemouth & Newcastle. 11 points from last 24 is not title winning form. The momentum from the 5 straight wins at the start of the season has been well & truly lost.

My biggest worry if Pellegrini is still here next season is Aguero, he will not want to stay here if we don't improve, yesterday showed that the engineer built ladas not ferraris, I've not seen any tactical genius apart from maybe the Seville game away, so in two seasons he's got it right once. This season we've had a few close calls and managed to get across the line, yesterday showed when he comes up against someone better than him he has no answers tactically and no balls to drop certain players.

That's poor reading. We're lucky Chelsea are shite and Leicester/Vardy are doing the business, otherwise we'd be getting fucking slaughtered in the press.

Klopp gets his teams reasonably well organised & balanced then makes them run their balls off pressing. Then that's it.

If the opposition can't deal with it he wins. If they set up to play against it, he struggles. Rodgers played exactly like Klopp when Liverpool were at their best. Paln A: run like fuck until your legs give in hope you score. Plan B: lose.

Pellegrini just walks head first into it. Arsenal will play in a similar but not quite so energetic manner. But with better players. If Pellegrini decides to be a manager for the day ,we will beat them. If he decides to be a stubborn stupid old ****, we will get fucking mullered worse than yesterday.
