Liverpool Post Match Thread

Tbh don't think Liverpool were that good - ALL their goals and even chances were against the run of play - most of that team will be gone or out of favour, certainly including JM, before Klopp is done.

Edit: that's not to say I don't feel totally embarrassed about it - and so we should be EVERYONE.

Agree but I am trying to be fair to the manager and indulge in as logical an analysis as possible in the aftermath of this debacle!!

You alluded to it another thread that we wont win anything this season if we keep playing like we have been and I agree with you. December is a huge month for us fixtures wise and we need to be in the top 3 form wise over this period.

Against the run of play? Hardly. We had a good 5 mins and it was shit after that. Where we are crap is that two of their goals came from us having a throw in and us having the ball in their corner. We shit out of tackles (Sterling was particularly guilty for the 3rd goal) we don't foul when we should, unlike the Scousers who picked up 3 bookings for cynical trips to stop our play. We are just too nice at times. 2nd half, benteke had the ball around 35 yards from goal. Mangala just let him run until he was 10 yards out and Hart made a good save although I think they scored from that corner. It was just unbelievably shit play from Mangala. Bring the fucker down at 35 yards out if you have to. He wasn't the last man so it was a booking at worst.

Not sure what game you were watching. Milner can run all day, I'd imagine Klopp will quite like having him at his disposal.

i tried my best to stay calm after pool loss until i saw a liverpool fan with Raheem sterling deleted tweet, then i had to come on Bluemoon to find some comfort, i thought i hate united supporters the most, but liverpool C**** are extremely thick

However we feel, it's a temporary feeling. The feeling they had two years ago will live with them and even better Gerrard forever.

Strange as may seem, with a couple of days to digest that,I don't feel too bothered. That was the worst we've played for years. When virtually everyone out on the pitch has a collective brain fart like that, well, you know that you're going to see the real City stand up again very shortly. It wasn't simply that we were bad, it just wasn't us ! It was like the Invasion of the Body Snatchers or something. So in the end, I'll judge the significance of what happened on Saturday very much in the light of what we do in Turin this week, and against Southampton next Saturday. If we fuck those up, we know we've got a big problem on our hands.
Credit to Liverpool (although it hurts to say it). They don't have particularly brilliant players, but they played as a team, everyone right up for it, everyone putting a shift in.

Whatever Neville has just said is spot on. So slow in our play and we're miles behind where we should be.

Ratboy and Carra really savouring our autopsy tonight. Unfortunately as has just been said, they have described our lack of tactical awareness and below standard play quite accurately. The wide players on each side were not used and we were left floundering in a narrow game. The point that our CBs were not pressed but left to make passes which could be intercepted was particularly well made.

Neville is a superb pundit. His analysis of the game just now on MNF was bang on the money. Especially what he said about it being 6 v 4 in Liverpool's favour in the middle of the park. That was fine, providing we could make use of our 2 v 1 situations on both flanks, due to Liverpool's narrow shape. He then demonstrated quite excellently how inept we were at recognising these situations. Can't argue with a word he said.

Absolutely spot on analysis by rat boy.
Piss poor execution of game plan by the players.
Still don't really understand why pellegrini didn't change after 20mins.
Neville said on his podcast he thought pellegrini saw it wasn't working but didnt change until half time so as to keep squad harmony. Not sure I buy that. That pasting has the potential to be demoralising.
Guess we'll see on Wednesday and Saturday

Wonder if Pellegrini would do it any differently if we got Liverpool in a two legged semi in the cup (assuming both get through of course)

I have doubts he would to be honest. I thought we were almost nailed on for this comp but if Liverpool are still in it with us after this round, I wouldn't be so confident.

Funny we get dicked and these pundits always come out with they should be top and winning this league with the players we have, what about we haven't had the same team play since after the 1st 5 games of the season plus half our top players are injured! Talking about the Liverpool game on sky sports and saying Klopps had 10 days to prepare his team oh Milner supposed injury so he was rested while sterling played 2 international games also otamendi and Fernandinho got back from international duty late so wasn't risk! saying that if Pellegrini set us up better knowing we have injuries and started an extra midfield in Delph we might a made a game of it.

He'd change one thing... Caballero would come in for Hart (gulp!)

To be fair Neville pointed out all the players who were missing for us

We should walk the league - no credit if we win it - if we don't - overpaid wasters.
