Liverpool - post match thread.

How a team with our resources, can end up with a defence like ours is frightening.

It is fucking staggering to be sure. That said, if we got rid of Kolarov and Clichy and replaced them with someone even 1/2 decent, it would be transformational. I seriously wonder how many points Kolarov has cost us all on his own. Yesterday's fuck up was another down to him, again.

It's called taking your eye off the ball, should have been addressed a few seasons back properly..[/QUTE]

But he keeps picking Zabaleta ahead of Sagna who was arguably the best fullback at Euro 2016. Pep needs to use his resources properly...Sagna is way ahead of Zabaleta (the 2016/17 model) and needs to start.

Navas isnt a starter. When I looked at the starting 11's I thought we had the better players.

better players only when played in the right system playing to their better attributes........nto trying to shoehorn all our attacking midfielders into one team

Sane is a pep player....high intensity, defends from the front and will run and run all game.....is he a better player than silva, kdb no he isn't but they are being asked to do this and hey cant

winaldum would be a much better option to play alongside ferna than Yaya in games like that yesterday....powerful, great engine...keeps it simple

Was a bit dissapointed maffeo and angelino have been loaned out.

We create nothing. We are so void of ideas in attack it's a joke. To say we have so many attscking players in the line up it's actually laughable it's like they are coached not to shoot

well if he is and they aint responding then they need to be dropped.....not now but 8-10 games ago

and what we are seeing as an overall team shape week in week out clearly says he isn't asking them to do it.....its not just yesterdays games...its every game win or lose....the set up is similar in terms of us being wide open defensively...it was there in the very first game and was there yesterday...huge gapping holes between back line and midfield whereas other teams are more compact defensively and then can attack at pace etc.....we do neither

Well I think if us fans can see the issues then Pep Guadiola can. The reality is it's probably a bit harder to rectify than us armchair managers think but you're not wrong.

What happened, he should have controlled the ball from yayas free kick, instead due to his shit technique his lame ass back pass goes back to Liverpool and then he is too slow to get back to block the header.
He wasn't too slow to get back though, he was back, and got in a good position before the cross, he just didn't watch the scorer as he then let him back in front of him, it was nothing to do with his pace, but his poor defending.

However as I asked last night, where were the 2 CB's in that move, and how did they manage to get the ball through our midfield, from right corner to left corner of the pitch, to Lallana with such ease for the cross, and where was the challenge on the cross ? Kolarovs part in the goal was certainly poor, but most of the team played some part in how crap it was.

We are so easily bypassed at times, that you can almost call a goal when the ball is still in the opposition final third, once we give it away. Its a team thing not an individual thing, yes he should have done better with the pass from Yaya, and certainly with a challenge on the guy who scored, but there is more to it than just Kolarov's input.

I've said it before but by selling Aguero for a decent price, we can bring in two top quality replacements. Two players who are more mobile and don't hang around in offside positions waiting for "service".

Can't believe I'm hearing Aguero isn't suitable material and we can't make anything of him.

Nor would recruitment history encourage me to bet everything on the replacements being a roaring success.

Sanchez, Griezmann, Aubameyang, Lacazette, Icardi (who Pep had at Barca), Dybala, Bellotti, etc. None of those spend most of the game waiting for service a yard in front of the last defender, thereby making themselves unavailable for a through ball.
None of whom are prem proven except Sanchez whose record does not compare to Sergio. Lacazette and Icardi not fit to lace aguero shoots imo. Aubameyeng had the chance to sign and has stated he wants Madrid and again isn't at sergios level. Griezmann would be a great addition but not sure he's an upgrade.

Yep I agree we arent getting the most out of them at the moment.
