Liverpool - post match thread.

It's all about perspective as @ManCityX's post says. People absolutely are entitled to be disappointed we lost and be disappointed that we are 10 points behind the leaders. But there's a heck of a lot more to football and football management than turning up, snapping your fingers, and turning everyone into Pele.

The comment you make about it being "almost impossible" to not improve on last season sums up the problem for me. There's a sense of entitlement which I personally find a little nauseating. We won a trophy last season, got the European cup semi final where we lost by the odd goal to Real Madrid, and managed to finish in the top 4 for the fourth season on the bounce or something like that. It's actually VERY difficult to improve on that when half the team need replacing.

The thing is, the mood music is changing all the time. We are now being massaged and conditioned to think top four will be a remarkable achievement.

We have hired in possibly the most expensive manager in the world to direct one of the most expensively assembled squads. The least I expect is a dogfight in the title race, which I still hope to see, not some unseemly scrabble for CL qualification and a promise of jam tomorrow. I also expect to see players sweating blood for the shirt. If that's being entitled then fcuk it, I'm guilty.

TBH, there's nothing in that post of any real interest or relevance to anything. Pep's been in charge six months. Only someone who lives on an island and doesn't follow football would suggest that he's under any pressure from the people who employ him.

And that is the main problem

I'm happy to give Pep the time he needs, albeit watching games like that is extremely frustrating.

But what worries me is that Pep's style is supposed to be about creating numerical overloads with lots of players in close proximity monitoring in the ball quickly & outnumbering the opposition players in that part of the world. Have we seen any evidence of that?

We don't seem to have moved on from last season, when the nearest player to the man with the ball was 15-20 yards away.

Some mardarses on here.. Did not play well, but Pep is trying to change and instil a totally new way of playing but some "supporters" can't see that. Grow up and look at the big picture

Well Karen you're 100 per cent wrong. Been going to City since 1967, used to help my mate and his dad sell programmes between the turnstiles and the Kippax in the 70 and had a season ticket since Kinkladze's time. Can't just take it for granted that SM will stick around indefinitely.

Yep his kids are die hard city fans now for life.

10/10. Wicked post. Thank you.

The only worry I have is that when we bring in the new full backs and a centre half we have to make sure we nail it. We can't afford to slip up with these transfers.

Our record at buying defenders obviously isn't great but don't think it would take much to improve on the current lot really I suppose.

Stones needs to be playing alongside a top class and experienced centre half every week if he's to realise his potential.
