Liverpool - post match thread.

Yeah go on. Blame Kolarov for losing the ball in midfield and letting in a cross that when it reached him and Wynaldum it was the latter that jumped when Kolarov finished his step and therefore wasn't able to jump at the same moment.

His attempt to defend that cross was pathetic, but that was just 1 incident in 90 minutes of shitness. And today is just 1 match in a season of total incompetence.

He is a million miles from the standard we require and how he has managed to stay at our club for 7 seasons whilst performing like an utter **** 9 games out of 10 is just beyond belief

I'm not necessarily laying the blame on Pellegrini, but I don't think you can say this is Guardiola's team when only two of his signings started. It's going to take more than one window to get the squad he needs.

If we had a plan for 3 years or more to bring Pep in, why weren't the majority of players he would need already at the club? Why did Txiki etc not plan for Peps arrival and leave him a squad of players that can't do his style?

Seems baffling.

True, but I would bet my house that neither will be sold this summer.

What makes you so sure?

Personally I think both need selling and replacing with players who suit Pep's system better. I wouldn't bet on them both going, but equally I don't see both of them surviving this summer. This season a lot of players get the chance to stake their claim. I don't think Silva or Kun are currently showing that they are unsellable granted for different reasons.

Fine margins Ric. Luiz gets an early red card and we are looking at least one point against Chelsea. Either KDB or Aguero takes any of their chances and you are talking 3 points and there were one very decent call for a penalty in the game. We get the three points and you are talking one huge confident boost and a chance for the team to build some momentum. As things turned out they got all 3 despite us being the better side for large periods of the game and they never looked back since. You probably totally disagree but that is one huge slice of luck imo.
Actually I thought the biggest single piece of luck in that game went to City, a free goal given to them by Chelsea. Funny how that's never mentioned when talking about luck in that game.

There was nothing lucky about Chelsea's 3 goals though was there?

You're lucky you're still posting on the forum IMO. I believe it's against the rules to pretend to be a City supporter when you support someone else. Your five Chelsea related posts show quite clearly who you support. So I reckon you do one.

That was after KDB hit the bar and Kun's effort cleared off the line which had been mentioned.

Lucky that Luiz still remained on the pitch and got away with a few more dubious challenges. City had another chance before the opener.

IF Pep is given the reigns as to who to target it could be an exciting summer ahead.

For what its worth I don't think any of the summer buys figured in his plans for the medium term perhaps with the exception of Sane but I wouldn't bet my house on it.

Gabriel is the first of his players IMO.

Past runs on the board don't count for much in Pep's world and no one is immune to moving on provided the right deal can be made.

Attitude and weakness of character were the reasons Nasri , Hart and Mangala were moved on and Yaya had to smarten up or stay off the park on match days.

Its clear a number of players some who have many runs on the board and tasted success with City are struggling to come to grips to what is expected of them but Pep is giving them every chance to buy in.

It would be interesting to know how many of the current squad Pep would have given the choice of the side he wants to lead in the premiership.

My guess is not too many and those he wants might surprise us.

This is nonsense, because they won 1-0 it means they didn't deserve to win? They were utterly dominant in those games. In all the 12 games in their run before todays game (which they also dominated & could have scored 8) there were only 2 teams that actually got at them--Spurs in the 1st half & City. The reason they've not only won all those other games but kept clean sheets in all 10 of them was precisely because they were so tight at the back, indeed, most of the teams (bar Spurs & City) just couldn't get at Chelsea. They've won 3-0 3-0 4-0 5-0 2-0 2-0 as well as those three 1-0 games. Just where they have been 'lucky' in these games is totally beyond me.
You do realise that it is impossible to judge a game by 5 minutes of MOTD action?
